Rughooking. What does it mean to you?
Blogging. What does it mean to you?
I find both relaxing. I met some of the most talented and incredible people through rug hooking and blogging and have learned so much from fellow rug hookers and fellow bloggers.
I feel I have many new friends even though I have not met many in person yet we all share a similar bond whether it’s rug hooking, blogging, our stories of our lives, whatever.
I have even met a number of people in person through each that have become very good friends.
All of this makes me smile.
While I’m “blog hopping”, if I come across a blog that isn’t my “cup of tea” so to speak, I simply click out of it, I would never think of leaving a spiteful or hurtful comment saying something about their house or children or animals or whatever they choose to post about, I just leave and move on to the next that may tickle my fancy or not.
So that brings me to my last post. My intention was just to re-visit a few of my rugs as part of my post not to open up a controversy. I feel this needs to be addressed after opening my emails yesterday morning. I certainly felt your love and support. My blogging intention isn't to pass on negativity so this type of post won't be a habit.
Here is a comment that appeared as a result of my last blog post:
newburyarts has left a new comment on your post "Can't Go Back to Memphis":
*****as for the cat rug, I know the company and they are one of the tops in the business. the so-called problem is an easy one to fix...you simply are a rank amateur and therefore they did not choose to respond. did you not ever learn of the rug specifically drawn off grain and hooked by joan moshimer? worked out perfectly...but she knew what she was doing! perhaps you should learn more about the craft and the fact that designs DO NOT have to be drawn on the straight of the grain...the rest of us who know what they are doing seem to be able to accomplish this. perhaps it because the southern hookers, like the texans, are rather poor!
The word “Bigot” came to mind after reading that post. ((Definition of BIGOT: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance ) and really doesn’t deserve this attention.
I do appreciate all your comments and support on my. Apparently this person that doesn’t enjoy my blog and many of yours is monitoring our blogs nonetheless and has read your comments and felt the need to leave this comment this morning on the same post ….

*****well...thanks for the laughs "ladies" and after looking at your blogs, it is nice to know that bad taste is alive and well in the lower middle class segment of the needlework world. from little pugs sitting on ugly rugs to a fool who won't be able to use her hand soon...please continue to let it all out so that the internet world can get a glimpse inside your unattractive homes and mediocre lives. cheers and happy trails!
Sorry, I really do not understand how we all have become targets of this blogland bully. How much nicer it would be if this person is so great at rug hooking that they would be sharing in a positive manner that people could learn from!) (Oh and just to share - I heard that this person has left a comment that he or she is a Physician – can you image their bedside manner! Holy hell! Oh and for you girls going to the “Camp Wool” Hook-In – I understand you will be blessed with the presence of this person – Hmmm wonder if the red carpet will be rolled out - LOL)
I think perhaps we just need to laugh this off as totally “unbelievable” or perhaps we should be very sad that someone is that insecure they feel the need to try to make someone else feel so bad about their life in order to make themselves feel better. It must be a truly lonely world to think one is so self-important and superior to the rest of the world, To me there is no “class sytem” - . Everyone has a life and their own story and deserves respect as such. I for one love pics of Pugs on Rugs, I love seeing all your lovely houses whether you have lots of money or none at all. It's the sharing and creativeness that shines through on all of your blogs and for the most part the community spirit out there. To know that when the chips are down someone is there with a kind word or an action in a way sometimes even our closest relatives can't be.
Moving on – again I want to thank each and every one of you that have shared your life and stories through emails and your blogs and call you my friend.
Just want to mention that this “rank amateur” as I was called in the above comment had to re-draw 4 of the cats, I had to add linen to one side to make it work, and have some border to “whip” the edges. I know, I know what you thinking – how in the world did this little pea brain of mine figure out a solution being such an amateur – but I tell you it was a job but I did it – All this was accomplished from start to finish in three days – whipped and on the floor. Image that from this amateur (Definition of Amateur: 1 : devotee, admirer 2: one who engages in a pursuit, study, science, or sport as a pastime rather than as a profession 3 : one lacking in experience and competence in an art or science
Okay my friends, I say let's just hit that delete button on unkind comments and let's just shake it off and do the tickle dance!

OMG! Unbelievable!
I'm glad it's only my rugs that are ugly and not the pugs...LOL!
With that being said, I love your blog, your rugs, furbabies and all. Keep up the good work!!!
Big pug hugs :)
Lauren
Your blog title could've read Cold Cold Heart! LOL!
That little Penguin is adorable as are Lauren's Rugs and Pugs! Way to shake it off Baby!
Smile and keep on Blogging!
Hugs!

OMG!!! Joanne this post is unbelievable! What nerve! Some people do not use the brains they were born with.... To lash out at people they do not even know and to comment on their home and family, or their craft that they enjoy doing is despicable.... And you said this is a physician, you have got to be kidding.....
Like you said in your blog, you do not like reading what is in a blog just click off and go onto the next ...no one has a right to leave such a negative comment... And I agree it is blog bullying and should be reported...
So keep on blogging everyone. I will be reading!
Love you, Nettie
Add me to the list of "rank amateurs" who love rug hooking, their fur babies, their modest dwellings, and the camaraderie that goes with belonging to a blogging community.
Creativity is a chance to express the dynamic nature of the human spirit--regardless of the form it takes, or the level of mastery. Sharing our creativity opens up communication and understanding between people--hopefully drawing us together, rather than tearing us apart!
Joanne, I agree with you. I have met some wonderful people through this medium--people who have cheered me on, shared their process, celebrated my craft, and the learning of the craft with me!
So, count me in with doing the tickle dance! Keep on hooking folks...and keep on blogging!
Hugs!
Courtney
Joanne~
Just wanted you to know I love your blog & look forward to see what you're working on. Keep on sharing.
Have a beautiful day~Becky
Joanne, thanks for being brave enough to actually share your life with others. I am sorry that some feel the need to tear people down. I did notice that this person doesn't take the same chance as we do. They don't have a blog. How convenient. Not even an email address. What a coward. If you are going to type such crap have the guts to make yourself known and list an email. It is problably good they don't have one listed. They might not like to hear our oppinion of them. I enjoy all your posts. Keep up the good work. Lisa
This is a really sad situation!
We are all friends here. It's unsettling to know that someone is lurking in the background waiting to unleash a tirade of hurtfullness whenever the chance appears.
And to what purpose???
I guess we were just too happy in our boring little lives and mediocre passtimes. Someone of superior taste and refinement needed to set us straight!
I may be tacky, low classed and untalented, but I at least try to maintain a semblance of decency.
Keep the faith, dear friends! A kind heart wins out over a superiority complex.
To newburyarts: you madam are a bitch. I have been around stitching, rug hooking and needle arts for a long time and it is only now that it has come to me that as our industry is sucking wind and wholesale markets are shutting down that we will never get new participants or keep the the mid america interest, IT is because of used trash like yourself. You are an arrogant self absorbed piece of crap and I hope all that read this blog realize that your oppinion is like a blast of hot fart air. Hope you have a short life and the world will be better without you. I know this industry will.
Oh my, oh my, oh my. I can't stop giggling. I'm sorry.
Not much to add to what you said Joanne. Great Post and nicely worded! Love the penguin, too cute (I wonder if the owner of the penguin is a rug hooker).. Ok, I'll stop. Didn't come here to beat another door down.
I too just click out of blogs that I visit if they aren't my cup of tea. I wouldn't leave a message as was done to you and many others.
From the comment left on my blog a while back, he/she said they have been hooking for 40 years and in 9 and 10 cuts. I love the wider cuts and would really wish he/she would create a blog so we could all see them. If it isn't what we like, we can just click out of it. But for that long of a period, you would think there are many, many, many rugs laying around (perhaps with an animal or two on them). Ok, I'll stop lol. But seriously, why not share your "expert" advice in a forum where others may or may not benefit from? You certainly have the time to read the blogs and type your comments. anyway, just a suggestion.
I love the Blog world. And I too have met through cyberspace many individuals I call my friends. Even have met some in person. This will all pass in a few days.
Lets get out there and create some more and share :). I better leave before I break out in a song....
Joanne, I think that newburyarts should take a hint from Bambi. IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.
What an empty shell of a person she must be to be so arrogant. I really feel sorry for this unfortunate person because she is very poor indeed. She is lacking in self esteem for sure and must be very unhappy to project this type of thinking. There is something that money just can buy.
After reading her comments it, was as if one could smell the bad breath.
I love your rugs and your blog and your comments on my blog.
I love that cute little Cookie penguin and how he shakes the bad vibes from newburyarts off.
Happy hooking and blogging Joanne. Hugs, JB
Dear Joanne,
I am delighted that you addressed this individual. I'm an RN and if she is a physician...well...just wow. Lots o' issues there. To lurk on blogs and leave such nasty remarks...it says volumes.
Happy Easter. And you're right...there are so many special people on here.
Final thought...you're as happy as you make up your mind to be. This ain't no stinkin' dress rehearsal.
From Francis De Sales..."be who you are. Be that well."
Cheers!
Kathleen
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt"
- Mark Twain
I have no doubt he was able to see in to the future and was looking directly at this newburyarts
Wow - I cannot believe someone would leave such distasteful comments, especially under the cloak of virtual anonymity.
Perhaps she/he is off their meds? LOL
Keep hooking and blogging. We love it.
Well now what has been going on while I lay in my sick bed! How do you know so much about this person? No blog No email.
If they are M.D. I hope they don't counsel people with problems. Yikes! Well keep showing us all you rugs I love them!
Cathy
LOL...LOL...LOL.... THIS PERSON IS A LIAR AND NOT A PHYSICIAN...IF SHE/HE IS...THEN WE KNOW WHY THEY HAVE THE TIME TO COMMENT ON EVERYONES BLOG...CAUSE THEY DONT HAVE ANY PATIENTS!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!! PLEASE LET THE COWARD SHOW THEIR FACE...IF THEY FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT EVERYONES BUSY AND FEEL FREE TO COMMENT.. THEN WHAT ARE THEY HIDING BEHIND??? COME ON.. UNLESS... THEY ARE SO UGLY THEY ARE ASHAMED!!!!!! WHICH I DO BELIEVE THEY ARE!! JEALOUSY IS SUCH AN UGLY EMOTION ISNT IT?????
Ummmm... Love the Penguin video? :-)
I love your blog you are a wonderful rug hooker and it's a shame that a person with mental issues has found your blog.I have met so many nice people and have been having a great time looking at how everyone decorates. This is a person that is a unhappy soul and what you throw out to the universe usually comes back to you. Keep blogging I love the dogs!!Hugs Cheri
Hell's Bell's! Now I have to go read the last blog to see what prompted all this. (I am a bit behind)
J - it is my esteemed pleasure to know you - rank amateur that you are. :-) I have a feeling I would be standing, right beside you, standing tall and being the "lady" you are.
Let all this crap wash right off your back!!! Those of us, who love you, know what a sweetheart you are.......
I've been a victim of a major "internet slap" before and I know how badly it can sting. Once you recoil from all the negativity, simply pick yourself up and know who is the better person in the circumstance.
I'd stand tall - with you - any day of the week.
Love and hugs!!!!!!! TRULY!!!!!!
CLASS ACT JOANNE!! XO, Judy
I just found your blog and I walk in on something like this.
I think it is very sad when people feel the need to be hateful. As a fellow rug hooker I don't understand why anyone would be so ugly about someone's work or blog. They sure don't have to read your blog and others who they seem to dislike.I see they(newburyarts)don't spend their time helping fellow rug hookers improve their hooking.
As for bad patterns,I am working on right now and I will not buying from this company again."Pattern makers, take the time to do it RIGHT."
Now a follower,Vicki
Joanne, I just was thinking about you today and waned to add this.
We all know that non of us are perfect. There is only one person who is perfect and they crucified Him. I hope that you feel blessed with all the kind support that you got from your many friends here on your blog. Hugs. JB
Still in shock that a rug hooker could be such a witch .... I thought it took a special kind of person to be a rug hooker... Guess I was wrong again!!! I hook because it is so calming and relaxing. I do not understand where this newburyarts's insulting comments came from... All I can think of is pure jealousy.... Jealous of the fun you are having in your life and all the friends you have on your blog and at Grant Street.... This person must not have a friend in the world. And I mean a true friend..... And believe me Joanne you have friends in your life that love you and friends on the blogs that love your blog... Just look at all your followers.... And truly that is all we need in life, family ,friends!... It disappoints me to think that this person thinks we all have mediocre lives.... dah! Wake up and smell the coffee... No life is mediocre in our circle of friends...
You addressed this situation most admirably.... That is why I can call you friend.... Your always there when needed.....
your friend,
Nettie
Hurting people, are hurting people.
Hard to believe someone would go to various blogs just to leave ugly comments. What an unhappy person! Love your rugs. We are ALL told when we draw out our own rugs that we need to do it straight....keep on bloggin and I will keep on reading and supporting what you do!
Oh, dear.
Not what you'd expect to find in the rug hooking world of all places.
Reminds me of my MIL during the late stages of dementia. Enough said.
By the way...your beautiful hooked tote is now on permanent display in our living room. We call it art and love to look at it every day!
Merrie
I'm just getting back to reading blogs again, and was so sad to see that someone has no manners or judgement, but access to a computer.
I'm Texan, but don't think she has visited my blog, PTL! Glad you are confident enough in your own talents that you just wonder at her need to leave such a comment. Nor did you say much other than why - life is too short to waste it spreading mean comments. Let alone the Karma you create.
Hopefully, she is finished visiting.
