This is too cute - For Kitty Lovers!

My friend Ter'e and my husband both emailed me this link in the same day. Oh man - it's been hard enough to keep me from the SPCA lately - I've been fighting the urge to adopt another kitty as it is! (Don't let the name scare you - it's really cute!)

Wednesday "Shaped" Up to be a "Cherryific" Day at Grant Street

Well I have to tell you about my day on Wednesday - It was so much fun. It will mostly be pictures because I'm sure most of you read Kathy's blog and Jill's Blog (see Rugs of Mine...in Time and Jill of All Trades down the right side) then you have already seen some pics and heard some stories!

On Monday afternoon I got an email from Kathy saying that Pat and Linda of Grant Street Woolworks were going to have an all-day hook-in on Wednesday and did I want to come. Not sure if she was just being nice but it took me all of two seconds to reply Yes! So now she's stuck with her offer! LOL! Now this is in Chambersburg, a 2 1/2 hour drive from where I live here in Eastern PA (and Jill you were about 45 minutes off - not in Reading but more "southeast" maybe? Heck who knows, I'm geographically challenged anyway!

So of course that day had to be overcast and drizzly - what would a day be going out to visit with Kathy than overcast weather! One of these days when it's beautiful and sunny I'm going to jump in my car and drive to her house just to say I saw the sun shine in Shippensburg
! I drove to Kathy's house and we hopped in her new little "girl" and off we went to Chambersburg to Grant Street Woolworks. We got there a little after noon and were greeted by Pat and Linda. They had to continue working since it was a work day but it didn't stop the fun from beginning. When you go to Grant Street Woolworks you know it will be a good time as soon as you step into the shop! For one thing Linda and Pat are so welcoming and make you feel at home and to be surrounded by all that wool and those supplies (I don't think there is anything a hooker would need that can't be found in their shop!)

Pat finished her flower basket rug - it's gorgeous - this pic doesn't do it justice. The background she dyed for it is beautiful - very antique looking:

Last time I was at Grant Street - Rick and Linda showed up how crazy Louie gets for her "for show" sheep - he wants them so bad. So a few weeks ago I was in the local pet store stocking up on cat food (they were having a big sale) and saw this adorable curly sheep dog toy and immediately thought of Louie so I mailed it to him. Linda said he loves it and she thinks he's thinking he got over on her by getting her sheep. Too funny this little toy is almost as big as him! He's adorable for sure.

Louie, Bo, and Rick were leaving for the night - so Louie made sure he and his sheep were in the elevator for the ride downstairs:
Here's Kathy actually working on her camp rug - this was taken later in the day - the first part of the day is spent doing circles around the store touching and feeling and drooling on the wool:

Not sure what Kathy was doing here but maybe she was trying to teach everyone a dance move - maybe the "Makerena"????

Jill is too funny - she is always laughing and smiling! What a goober!

Jill and Beth listening intently to one of Linda's stories while they are working (notice Jill smiling again!)

How many Hookers does it take to cut a piece of wool?

Linda treated us to pizza for dinner (thanks Linda!) ! So everyone put down their hooks and grabbed some pizza!
Sisters Beth and Jill - Jill is really enjoying her pizza here!

Here's Linda and Beth working on something! Maybe long division? Who knows? (Oh and Beth you take great photo's - don't know why you are hiding!)

Patty is gathering up her supplies to leave for the evening. Ahhh poor Linda she looks tired - all that writing up of sales wore her out....
I also met Sherry again at the hook-in - Sorry Sherry - but the pics I took of you were all blurry! Sherry was working on an adorable cat rug (one of my favorite subjects) I think it was a Bev Conway rug - Cats and Stars. Then she put that away and pulled out another one to finish off. Really nice rugs! Patty had finished a great purse (i believe the pic is on Kathy's blog) Loved it! I believe that was the first time I met Patty.
We had a lot of laughter throughout the day - lots of stories and interesting subjects! I mean really where else can you go to learn some new hooking techniques, learn about local ghosts, how to pick locks, effects of fruit - cherries in particular, snaps in curious places and more!
Everyone left except Kathy and I and Linda - we sat around and chatted until nearly midnite! Hard to believe the day went by in a blink! And yes I did get a few loops pulled!
After we "closed up shop" Kathy drove me back to her house - thank goodness Kathy is a good driver that knows her roads - it was so foggy you couldn't see the end of the car! I got in my car and crept out to the highway - a little bunny ran in front of me but thank goodness i saw him coming in the headlights thru the fog - once i got about 10 miles out of Shippensburg the fog really lifted - thank goodness - it's kinda eerie driving a distance thru fog - gives you a weird sense! My drive home is 2 1/2 hours and I pulled into my parking space at 2:39 a.m.! It was worth it though - didn't have anything planned the next day so got to sleep in.
Well it's worth the drive out there - it's such a nice laid back relaxing time - no stress whatsoever! I really enjoyed myself! So thank you girls for inviting me!
Today I decided to take a drive out to Ephrata, PA - there is a farmer's market called "Green Dragon". I was highly disappointed. Haven't been there in a long time - used to be lots of antiques and misc. flea markety type stuff but now it's basically t-shirts, sunglasses, bras, socks, and more of the same. Sure there are veggie and flower stands and lots of food but it really changed. Not a whole lot of USA made things - mostly imported - even in the "Amish" stands - hmmm Amish with a tag "Made in China". It was really crowded too. So I decided to leave and went to the thrift stores I like in the area, and there were tons of roadside stands to stock up on fruits and veggies and flowers. Ran out of time to go to the antique stores I like but will save them for another day. Always somewhere new to explore in that area.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend - Stay cool - Joanne

This and That

The last few days the heat has really kicked in. Yesterday I was out running errands and shopping most of the day. One of my stops was for tomato plants and pepper plants - We put them in containers on our deck since our soil is rocky and nothing seems to grow - it's hard enough getting grass to grow - but we do get plenty of sun back there! So by the time I got home my car was filled with cans of cat food and kitty litter (sale at the pet store); bags of groceries; veggie plants and bags of soil - Boy it was hot dragging all that stuff in and putting it away!

Anyway, it's too funny hot the heat affects the kitties. Riley turns into this limp dishrag. This is where he spent the entire day on Thursday and Friday:

That chair is sitting in front of the window and under a ceiling fan,

Poor guy, he's just oozed into this chair:

Here he is quite annoyed at me taking his picture! Look at that mug - shooting daggers at me! Or is that him pleading with me for the AC?

So about 8:00 last nite - Riley was sitting at the top of the stairs looking miserable - I said to him "Hey buddy, are you hot?" He then proceed to fall over like one of those goats that just drop on their side when startled - I couldn't stop laughing - he is so dramatic! So I told him I would break down and put on the central air which I did - I couldn't take the heat any longer either! Well in about half hour - that boy was tearing around getting into everything! He was spinning my hooking frame, digging in my wool, killing his toy mouse and just raising a ruckus. Amazing what a little AC will do for a cat!

Today my hublet spent the day outside planting our veggie plants - I told him to use sunscreen - he asked if we had any and I said yes in the bathroom closet. Now I know him, if it doesn't grow wings and fly into his hands from the closet then he'll say he can't find it - so i pulled it out and put it on the counter for him. I then left for most of the day.

Well just a little while ago he asked me to "put something" on his back! He never used the sunscreen so he is as red as Riley's toy lobster!

Ouch!

Had a nice surprise in my mailbox today, my online group AAPG is doing a swap - This time the theme was "Green" - we had to send green wool, green floss, buttons, and something "extra" - Jo had my name (just like the blue swap!). Here's a pic of my "loot" - I believe she made that little wool bird - too cute. Thanks Jo!

The clouds have rolled in and it's starting to thunder. Riley is seated next to me in my wool pile taking a nap It's still hot outside but nice and cool in the house - thank goodness for the person that invented air conditioning is all I have to say!
Hope everyone is having a good Memorial Weekend - enjoy whatever you choice to do!

Springing into Summer

Wow how true is the above statement. I've always loved Ziggy! (Speaking here as if he was a real character instead of a comic) He's always has such a good spirit about him - things always go wrong but he always comes keeps plugging along. At one time I had a huge Ziggy collection - started collecting him in the mid 70's when I was in junior high and to this day I get the calendars yearly. I stopped buying the little collectibles (okay maybe one here and there). When we moved into this house 12 years ago - our spare bedroom (before I took up rug hooking) was stuffed full of Ziggy's collectibles right down to the sheets on the spare bed! I downsized the collection down to about 2 shelves in the craft room (thank goodness for EBay - back when the selling was good!) Anyway - Ziggy often has some very true statements to make!

Hasn't the weather been gorgeous the past few days - it's getting pretty hot during the day but cooler at nite. Hoping tonite cools off so I won't feel compelled to put on the AC!

Well being that my "dyeing" was successful on that pea green shirt - thought I would go into my closet and find some things I haven't been wearing and try some more - Here's some results:

This shirt was white and I never wore it cause it's a thin cotton - I'm not one of those that feel the need to flaunt my bra under my shirts (nor my white flesh!) Decided to go pink with this one since it had yellow embroidered circles/flowers across the bottom. I did another t-shirt that was already a pink and white - came out darker pink and pink!
These shorts I'm so happy with - I have three pair of Khaki colored shorts - and these never got worn . I didn't have any black ones so decided to try! Love how the stitching stayed tan. In this dye pot I also threw in a favorite black shirt that was getting faded from washings - came out nice and new looking!:

This was another shirt that was pure white! Dyed this one red (my favorite color) Funny even the clear buttons took on some of the color!

This past weekend I got a bee in my bonnet to shop - watch out when that happens! LOL! Actually my quest was for shoes - always looking for shoes - I have the widest feet in the world I think. As a kid my Mom had to order my shoes and I always had the ugliest shoes. When I complain to my Mom about the ugly shoes I had to wear back then she always says "At least you don't have bunions and corns from wearing cheap shoes"! Too funny. Put it this way - I wore saddle shoes when saddle shoes weren't cool - and they were brown and beige to boot - not the standard black and white!

I happened upon the a store that was having a huge sale (and it's rare you will find me buying something that is not on sale!) 10% off then another 50%. Now most stores rarely carry wide widths let alone have them in stock. Found a pair of sandals I liked and they had a tag "Multiple widths" on them - There was this nice teenage boy that asked if he could help me - I'm thinking "could you cut off a few toes then I will be able fit in these shoes" but I asked him if he had more stock in the back. No, but he did tell me to take the shoes I liked to the counter and they would order them for me - Well I'm thinking - ughhh shipping costs! He then proceeded to tell me free shipping, plus I can still get the 10% and then the 50% and they will ship them to my house! SOLD! Okay - cool what do i have to lose - if they don't fit I can return them right back to the store rather than shipping back. I'm happy to report they came today - a little tight - but since they are all leather I will break them in (the norm for me)!

I also found a few other things in the store. I love bags and things - always carrying something somewhere - so you can say I'm a bag lady - Well I was telling my friend Kathy via email about my purchases and she said she loved bags too and wanted to see pics of them - so Kathy - here they are! LOL

This is really a laundry bag - it's huge and nice heavy canvas and has a shoulder strap - This shall be used for wool of course and carrying rugs! Couldn't believe it - i got it for under $10 - it was 10% and then an additional 70% on an already marked down price! I was tickled 'pink' (and blue) so to speak with it!

Then I found this one too for under $10 - love the summer look to it (okay I know, I know - it's a bag!)

Found a few other things but still on the look-out for more shoes!
Hope everyone is enjoying their week! Oh there are still several Koontz and King books (see previous posts) if anyone is interested. For those that emailed about the books they wanted - they will go out in the next day or so!

Reading Anyone? Book Giveaway

Well I decided to see if anyone would like any Stephen King or Dean Koontz hardbacks. My local paperback trader doesn't take hardbacks and I'm trying to downsize my book collection - I have so many books I want to read and I read so many different authors that I will never get to re-reading any of these in my lifetime - So I will start with these two authors.

Instead of listing them on Ebay or half.com or amazon.com I thought why not offer them up to someone that likes to read and may enjoy them rather than me making $1.oo - LOL. A lot of them are still nearly brand new condition but since I have read them once I can't actually say "brand new" - but wil call most "brand new like condition" LOL! So if you are interested in one or two - or the whole lot of them - let me know via email or comment which one or ones you want . To save on shipping amounts I will use Media mail shipping (only in US) as that is cheaper than Priority - just takes a little extra time,

So what is everyone reading? Right now I'm reading a bunch of different authors and recently have been reading a lot of Jodi Picoult, Luanne Rice, and a few others and really enjoying them. Of course I go in spurts where I read one right after another - then I realize I haven't gotten a thing done and barely have come up for air - so I take a break for a few days! I'm not one that can only read a chapter or two a nite - I need to read until it's done! Then I get that lonely feeling after finishing a good book where I'm sorry to see it over!

Here's the list of Stephen King and Dean Koontz

Stephen King
Dolores Claiborne – 1993
The Stand (Complete and uncut) 1990
The Dark Half 1989

Puttering around Doing A Little of This and Some of That!

Well today was a GREAT day weatherwise for a change - there was (and still is) a nice breeze, the sun is out, not hot, but not cold either. Was able to keep the upstairs (3rd floor) windows open and downstairs the front door and slider.

The last couple of days were finally a few days to myself - no one was in the hospital, no one needed me to take something or someone somewhere, no plans! My favorite kinda day (remember I like spur of the moment - not saying plans don't have their place, but just like to get up sometimes and do whatever is I want to do!)

Went out to Lancaster yesterday - Love driving out that way - always somewhere to stop - some shop to search for treasures or ideas and you never know what's open or what's new! Stopped at about 4 thrift stores and found some fun things, stopped at the primitive shop and got a few good ideas. Also did my grocery shopping and stocked up on meats and veggies and fruits - glad that's over for a while!

I found these in a little shop that is a co-op for handcrafters - Aren't they cute - they had them displayed with candles in them - I don't know about that - the candle they had in it was level with the top of the fabric???? Either way - I think they are perfect for snippets dishes. Shame I hate to sew - they look easy to make! The red one will be mine and the other I will save for a gift sometime!

Since today was so nice I decided to get some things done around the house - I don't know about everyone else - but I start something and then start something else and so on and so on - next thing you know i forget what it was I was originally planning to do - today was like that! I started the laundry so i could get some of the stuff hung outside where it drys in no time and smells so fresh! Then I saw this shirt I had folded up and put on the bookcase. I bought this for $2 at Macy's I think - It was original $39.99 (yea right for a cotton t-shirt) but I got 80% off final clearance and then a 20% coupon ( my way of shopping) - Nothing spectacular about this t-shirt but it was 100% Pima Cotton - I love Pima cotton shirts - the more you wash them the softer they get and they feel so good to wear. They also seem to keep their shape and wash and last so much longer than some other cottons. Well here's a pic of the shirt -

Pretty gosh darn ugly right - a bright pea green with a dark gray! LOL I just love a bargain though - so i bought it with the intentions of trying to dye it - Heck I dye wool - why not try a shirt - and for $2 what did I have to lose? Now don't get me wrong - those colors have a place in this world - just not in this shirt in my opinion.

I had picked up "Brown" Rite dye to overdye this shirt - I was going to do it Red but didn't know if any of the green would show thru and then I thought about Dark Green, but I figured Brown was a good color.

So out came my dye pot and on the stove it went! (I even threw in a brown t-shirt i had that had a motor oil stain on the front I couldn't get out - thought I would throw that in too and see what happened - stain free now)

Well I couldn't be happier with the results - My shirt is now the color of Hershey's chocolate! What can be better than Chocolate? LOL!

The only thing I didn't think of was the thread - the thread is still green - but it all kinda goes now I think! Hey for $2 and $1.77 for the dye - me thinks I got a bargain!

Besides doing wash, dyeing my shirt, I got my tulip garden I bought at Costco (about 12 tulips in a tub) planted outside - And I have to say- I still don't get it - I do not like playing in the dirt! The mess, the pain in the knees while kneeling on concrete, the worms - yuk! Also pruned a large maple tree that hangs over our sidewalk - got all that done and cleaned up - the laundry dried and put away - then went into the kitchen to tackle the veggies I bought yesterday! Got all the veggies washed and repackaged so they are ready for whatever dish they will fall into - Made homemade cole slaw - bought the smallest head of cabbage I could find yet why is it when cabbage is shredded it expands so much! So now I have this huge vat of slaw! My husband has been asking me to make him some. He came home - spotted it in the fridge and had his fork in it! Too funny - I told him - "it's gotta sit a bit" - he didn't care! Now he'll probably make a corned beef bomber for lunch tomorrow - He loves his sammies!

I never did get to cleaning the bathrooms which was on my mental list of things to do! Oh well there is always tomorrow isn't there!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

What to Start on Next????

Well it's Monday already - May is already starting to fly by. Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day yesterday.

I went to visit my parents - took my Mom a vat of macaroni and cheese - she loves it and so does my husband - I make it in the crock pot and it tastes just like baked - and very easy. I don't care for it myself. I also renewed the subscription I gave me my Mom to Create and Decorate magazine last year for Mom's Day - so that's why I took the mac and cheese - didn't want to go over empty handed!

I took some chairpads over with me and sat there for the afternoon and whipped them. (Can't show them yet -they are challenge patterns for a group I belong to). My Dad was feeling much better - it was evident the way he was picking on me! LOL! He then finally decided to leave me be and watch the Phillies game!

My Mom is very creative - she's a quilter and always making something - she got done making some quilted purses. She also spends a lot of time throughout the year making things for donation to their church for fund raisers and such. Every once in a while i go thru her tub of goodies and make sure there is not something in there i can't live without! So went up to her tubs yesterday and found something I thought would be nice for a gift - So I "bartered" with her! Just kidding - she said take it - I said I would pay for it - and she said no - then I said how about a rug - knowing full well she had her eye on a rug I made last year! So this afternoon I took over a bunch of the rugs I made to sell last year but never took them over to the stores I sell some rugs in - and let her pick -

Well I knew it wouldn't be the cat and pumpkins! She's not a cat lover! She picked the one above with the proddy like petals on the right. She told me she's been wanting that rug for a year! I told her she should have just taken it before! Oh well! Anyway - it's hers now!

Now I'm back to deciding what to start on next - I always hate finishing a rug because then I have to make a decision what to do next. I have 100's of ideas running around my head but I always have a hard time transferring my ideas to linen - I'm not good at drawing but I try - and I thank God for Primitive hooking! LOL!

So here I sit in my hooking room staring at a piece of linen and my sharpie and deciding what to make! Decisions, Decision, Decisions!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week - JOanne

What a Dreary Week - More Ups and Downs

Well it sure has been dreary the past week - I swear if this keeps up I'm going to start to get moldy from the rain and humidity. Actually today we had some sunshine and any minute now it's going to pour - they are calling for thunderstorms again tonite!

The week started off okay. One thing you have to know about me is I do things on a spur of the moment - no thinking - no planning at times - seems the best times are when you open yourself up and just let go!

Monday morning I got up and it was dreary out - and I felt "bored" I guess - one of those days where i didn't know what to do with myself - didn't feel like staying home, didn't feel like going anywhere, didn't feel like doing chores, didn't feel like doing sitting - Just didn't know what I wanted! (Just like a little kid I know!) So I decided to go to Atlantic City! They always offer up free rooms so I went online, booked a room, threw some stuff in a bag, kissed the kitties goodbye and off I went. I called my friend who has a shop down near Avalon (she stays in NJ 1/2 the week and half the week up this way) and she said she was down at her house until Wednesday. So I stayed the night in AC then on Tuesday drove down the Garden State and went to her co-op near Avalon. Picked her up and we went out to lunch and then spent the afternoon antiquing and shopping. It was a nice day - relaxing and laid back - just a good day and just what I needed. I didn't buy anything but love to look - you never know what treasures or ideas you will unearth! The rain held off until that evening which was nice - spent another nite down there and came home the next day.

Spent the next couple indoors due to the rainy crappy weather - so did some hooking and watched some movies. I tried to organize the hooking room - yep it's a royal mess again (or should I say still?) but that didn't last long so went back to hooking!

At one point on Wednesday, I went into the "pink" (spare) bedroom: this is what I saw on top of the bed:
so I lifted the covers and this is what I found:

Hey, what else is a sleepy Tiger supposed to do on a rainy Wednesday afternoon (and thursday and friday too!)

Have to tell you a little story about the comforter he's cocooned in - When I was 16 or 17 - I bought that single bed comforter at Hess' - which is now out of business! It was always a nice soft cottony material in pastels (hey my room back then was light green!) Well this silly comforter has been with me for well over 30 years now! It has been washed more times than I can count. Seems it is always adopted by someone! In my husband and my first apartment back in the late 80's early 90's - Nicky took to it - I could never put it away - always had to be in the corner, in a windowsill, on the bed somewhere - that was "his" blanket! Well since I lost Nicky - it seems Riley has taken over the blanket - but even way back when when Nicky wasn't on it - Sid or Miles was - or on cold winter nights it would be around me watching tv! That poor thing is still "kicking" - it's lost most of it's stuffing but it's so darn soft! Now I just keep it on the antique bed in that room for the kitties, and if you can't find Riley - guaranteed he's in it! Too funny.

Had another scare with my father early this morning - my Mom found him passed out cold on the bathroom floor - the ambulance came around 2:30 a.m. in the morning - took him to the hospital - got him revived and all his levels up and down (as the case may be) and thank goodness they didn't admit him. They told him he had was very lucky that had my mother not found him when she did he wouldn't be here right now. I talked to him several times throughout the day and he's really shaken up this time. I could just tell from the conversation - I felt bad talking with him and tried to cheer him up -I told him God was obviously not ready for him and his corny jokes and needed him to work on them here on earth first. So with that comment - I opened myself up to having to listen to a slew of really corny jokes from him - Yep my Dad is the King of Corn for sure! Let's see - here's one he told me "Why don't they let elephants in the pool" "Because they can't keep their trunks up" Oh please! At least I got him laughing again! Felt better after the last conversation - hope he did too!

Tonite went to Basket Bingo with my friend Nettie - this is the third year we have gone to this one - i suppose it's now an annual event - always go out to eat at this good Italian restaurant first then it's just around the corner to the church! We had a fun table tonite - one girl at our table won one basket - the rest of us walked out with a big "L" on our foreheads! It was fun though - lots of laughing. The first year I remember both Nettie and I won baskets. Last year and this year we were losers! Oh well!

Well this weekend is Mother's Day - wishing all the Mothers out their a very Happy Mother's Day - Enjoy your Day!

Chambersburg in a Day!

I have to say even though Wednesday was a very long day for me - it was a great day. This is the second year I met up with Kathy and Cheryl in Chambersburg. I met both these ladies thru rug groups and so happy to call them friends . Cheryl is from Indiana and has relatives in Chambersburg so she was up this way visiting relatives and shopping with her mother and two sisters. Kathy lives nearby and I of course am 2 1/2 -3 hours away in Eastern PA! We were starting our day meeting at the Salvation Army Fabric Sale and are hoping to make it an annual event as this is the 2nd year - Last year we met Cheryl for the very first time!

The day for me started with my alarm ringing at 5:15 a.m. Jumped out of bed (yea right -no jumping for me during the 5:00 a.m. hour!), into the shower, fed the cats, loaded the car and out the door by 6:15 a.m and started my journey to Chambersburg.

I stopped for coffee and gas, and then stopped later to get rid of the coffee! "Garmin" got me to the right exit and the right road, but it was a residential house when he said "Arriving at destination!" So I drove about another mile - and then turned around - and then turned around again - then decided to pull in a convenience center and call Kathy! Kathy and Cheryl were already at the Salvation Army Sale (check out Kathy's blog - Rugs of Mine in Time - link down the side - she had some funny things happen and also has some great pictures). Kathy tried to get me going in the right direction so I told her I would call her back if I couldn't find the place.

I finally got there around 9:20 - Found Cheryl with her two sisters and Mother already checked out and holding onto a lot of bags! After settling Cheryl's items for the day in my car - we went back in and found Kathy! I did good and only bought a few things - I spent under $5 - even a half hour later that place was picked thru. It's amazing how many people show up for this yearly event!

After we were all checked out - we decided to go for a bite to eat - so we piled into Kathy's new car (thanks Kathy for driving us about!) which I must say is quite comfy, and went for an early lunch and then around Chambersburg to a few primitive shops. Kathy brought me back to my car and I followed her to Grant Street:

We arrived at Grant Street Woolworks. Linda owns Grant Street and runs a rug hooking store inside the building with Pat. During the day they sew World War I clothing and the store is just outside their sewing room. They were kind enough to hold an afternoon hook-in for us and the people that were in the area for the sale.

Here's Cheryl and Kathy unloading at Grant Street:

Unfortunately my camera was on the wrong setting so most of my pics didn't come out. When we got there Pat was working on her flower basket - Kathy has a great shot of her beautiful rug on her blog, and two ladies I didn't know. Doris was there (I met Doris at rug class) so it was so nice seeing her again. She was finishing the edge of her rug in a way I never saw before and she was kind enough to show me how she was doing it! Thanks Doris (if you read this!). We settled in but Linda's shop is wonderful I of course couldn't sit still at first - had to look at all the new wools and antiques and things.
Here's a few pics from the day:
Here is Cheryl showing us her sock! Oh the "famous" sock - Cheryl has been working on knitting this sock for a while and I had heard so much about it - she brought it along to show us! We are thinking Cheryl needs to do something like framing this special sock! That is Linda watching Cheryl talk about "the sock"!

Kathy bought some wool from the Fabric Sale. Here are her and Cheryl doing the "burn" test! Didn't smell very good but she was lucky and got some 100% wool!

We ended up staying at Linda's until after 9:00 that night - Linda is a sweetheart and put up with us ! We didn't get any work done - well Cheryl did some hooking and Kathy did some stitching -but we spent more time talking. The day just flew by.
After we said our goodbyes to Linda (we couldn't talk her into going out to eat with us) we went to Applebee's.
Isn't this a great pic of Cheryl and Kathy - don't these two ladies have the most gorgeous smiles! I have to say I enjoy being in the company of both of them - always smiling and happy and so upbeat!

It was time to say goodbye - Kathy took Cheryl back to her Aunt's house and I made my journey home. I pulled in my parking spot at 1:18 a.m. - tired by happy - it was a good day for sure!
I didn't unload my car until the next day and Cheryl had given me a little gift - Aren't these the cutest how she folded them - She knitted and crocheted dish rags and they are so nice I do not want to use them! That is a friendship candle she gave me too! Thank you so much Cheryl! You are very special and very talented!

Spent the next day just doing not much of anything and Friday had to go help someone out - so far this weekend haven't done much except some necessary errands and finishing some projects!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! Joanne
