First, wanted to say Congrats again to Julie of Primitive Heartstrings. I had a nice note from her and so happy she has won the rug. Be sure to check out her blog and picturetrail here, love the work she does!
Okay - been trying to come up with some ideas for a table I will be trying to sell some of my "wares" at next month. I have made numerous small mats and of course will be selling some of the pincushions. I think I need a number of small inexpensive items that I can make a lot of (it's a two day festival). I made up these little hooked pennies first with the intention of making them into ornies for the feather trees I make, then decided they were too large for that, then my second thought was pins, but everyone does pins. So I decided to make them into little magnets.
Here's a picture of a few of the ones I did (i do have some more!) Okay what do you think? Are these silly? Would you buy one? How much should I charge if I sell them? Should i just save them and give them away with a purchase of a rug?
The hooking part takes no time - just a few strips of wool on linen, then i glued a wool circle on the back and then glued on the magnet. The magnets do cost money (I was surprised at how much a little magnet cost! LOL). Anyway - just curious about this and would love comments - truthfully! Oh and Kathy - do you recongize your cupcake pan in this picture - hehehehe!
I still don't know what else to make "little" - rug hooking isn't the most conducive to "small items" - even something simple like an ornament and assembling it takes time and money and you just don't want to give things away!
Hoping everyone is having a great Holiday weekend.

Hey, Joanne,
Definitely cool!!! Love the little magnets! Don't have any pricing suggestions, it's been so long since I sold anything so haven't a clue. But yes, I think they will sell.
Give the kitties a hug for me!
Hope you have a good Labor Day tomorrow.
Hi Joanne,
I love the magnets. If they don't sell it will be because people are blind! No suggestions about price except you might consider twice the cost of the magnets. I'm not sure that's enough
magnets are fun and great to add in packages too.
I haven't bought magnets in ages, still have some, so not sure what they cost now.
Debbie
I think they are cute Joanne! Yep, it's hard pricing... Going through that right now with my stuff.
I think people would buy them. Like I said before, I'd rather have them on my fridge than the telephone book magnet, or bank, etc. Just a suggestion, not sure how small they are. but how about a dollar a piece or 6 for $5, something like that? Or if they are larger, like I said can't tell how big, just up the price from there. Now you can come over and price my stuff lol.
and cupcake tin? (I'm glad the tin was after the word cupcake lol.....)
glad it's being used!!
Yes I would definited buy some. They would look great on my refrigerator. Don't know how much the magnets cost or exactly how big they are, but if they are 2-3 inches or so I would suggest maybe $2 or $3. Little things do sell..found that out at the show Ginger and I did this past Saturday. Anything $5. Hope that helps. Julie is one lucky lady too. I'm sure she will enjoy the rug. Have a great week.
Cute! I'm thinking $2 each or 3 for $5? What would be really cute is if we can figure out a way to fashion a cupcake bottom and then use those hooked circles as the icing on the cupcake! Yah... calorie free pin pinkeep! :-)
Hey Joanne~
These are wonderful! My suggestion would be to perhaps add a hanger of some sort....heavy black cord or string, or rusty wire, and make them a hanging ornament/magnet...kind of a 2 for one deal! Make a cute handmade tag that says that and charge 4.99 each! That way they could use it either way and it is like getting 2 different uses from one thing!! They may be too big for a feather tree, but would look darling on a bigger tree!! Hope that helps!! Again, a BIG THANK YOU for the gift I was so fortunate to win!!!
Blessings~
Julie

In addition to selling them, I would also have a sign stating that they get one or two free with a rug purchase. Free is always good and might be the encouragement a buyer needs.
Pug hugs :)
