Upcoming 200th Post - Hooked Rug Give-A-Way

I’ve been thinking about having a give-a-way here on my blog and decided that I would do it for my upcoming 200th post. I have enjoyed “blogging” and I know sometimes I may have bored you to tears but hopefully I have given you a few laughs, a few ideas, maybe some inspiration in you’re creating, or even a smile with my “boys” antics!

I love to hook rugs and do not really have a place for them all. Below is a pic of the rug.  It has spent the last few years rolled away in a tub. It’s a shame to leave rugs rolled away, right? So why not share – hopefully it will find a good home and make someone happy!

A little about the rug - It’s a larger rug and measures approximately 37” x 24”. It’s called “Antique Sampler” and was designed by the Woolen Willow. This was their “block of the month” project a few years back and was a kit where you would get the wool on a monthly basis. I did add some of my own wool here and there. It is mostly hooked in a #8 cut and hooked on linen. The designs in this rug are based on antique rugs and put together as a sampler. So if you like antiques and hooked rugs – this give-a-way is for you! I would like this rug to be used and loved and not rolled up and shoved somewhere. I wouldn’t even mind if you used it on the floor! (Yes, I said the floor – I have many rugs on the floor and actually walk in them! It gives them a nice aged look!)

By leaving me a comment and telling me you wish to be part of the give-a-way then you are agreeing to the following – To do something nice for someone! Yep – a kind of pay it forward – it doesn’t have to be monetary as times are so hard these days – it can be as simple as a smile to brighten someone’s day, helping someone get something off the top shelf at the grocery store, lending a hand, mowing someone’s lawn, I don’t know, the possibilities are endless – I try everyday to do something nice for someone and stay positive and away from negativity. It’s hard some days when you just don’t fee like it or are feeling sorry for yourself, but heck – just a smile can brighten a day, right? Oh and it’s all on you- you don’t even have to tell me what you did unless you want to!

Things to know (Won’t call them rules as I’m not so much a rule follower myself! LOL)

1. Leave me a brief comment so I know you are interested.

2. Must live in the US (this is a large rug and shipping charges will be too high outside the US)

3. If you win, you must supply me with an address and not a PO Box as I will be shipping this FedEx ground.

4. Smile!

I’m not putting a deadline on this give-a-way – but will post the winner on my 200th post. I believe this will be my 188th post – so depending if I “chat” a lot or not much – could be a week, could be two weeks or three!  So you need to check back to see if you won and then contact me with your information!

Enjoy your day!

Wow Joanne - what an awesome & generous giveaway! I'd love to be the lucky winner! I've been trying to do nice things for people ever since Monday when I left my purse in the Anchorage airport. Amazingly, when I realized where I'd left it and we went back two hours later, it was waiting for me at the car rental counter. I'm so thankful to the person who turned it in (with contents intact) and I've been trying to pay it forward in other small ways ever since!

Joanne,
Once again you are living up to your reputation as one of the most caring and gracious individuals around. As an admirer of your work and one who struggles with hers, your rug would have an honored place in my home.

Paying it forward is a concept that I was taught as a child by loving parents and strive to continue. The ways may be small but always sincere.

Wishing you peace and happiness,
trisha

I can't read your post on my I Pad because of the background color. Apparently some don't show up but I can see the pic of your fabulous rug and would LOVE to be in the drawing to win such a beauty! You are indeed a very giving and generous person. Blessings, Lori

Oh my gosh, that is so generous!
You have already done so many nice things for me that I certainly could not even think of winning such a rug.
I know some lucky person will enjoy and cherish it! Besides my house is too full of cat hair!!!
I do like the idea of doing a special good deed for someone.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

What a generous give-away. I have never hooked something so big. I will give this rug a place of honor on my floor and I'm not saying I will walk on it, but I will let the puggies rest their cute little behinds on it :)
You are such a giving person with such a great attitude. Paying it forward is such a wonderful concept. More people need to practice it.
Pug hugs :)

What a wonderfully generous give-away! Yes, put me on your list! And I, too, try to help out wherever I can. Today, I offered to open the doors going out of the doctor's office to the outside for a lady with a walker ~ she let me but didn't seem to really want help ~ learning how to be a good receiver is as important as being a generous giver, too. Your rug is gorgeous and whoever is the winner will be very lucky indeed!!

Joanne, What a fabulous way to celebrate your 200th post. I would love to be in the giveaway for your awesome hooked rug. It is simply beautiful!!!!! A smile goes a long way to anyone you pass on the street. A man at the local Starbucks I frequent is always opening the door for customers and always has a big smile on his face. I think he lives on the street because he has his bed roll and backpack with him, but clothes are nice and clean. Usually has a cup of coffee and sweet roll.So the other day I bought him a gift card and sat and talked with him for awhile. Very interesting man..around 60. He just travels around the state and enjoys people. Again, I would love to be included in your giveaway of the hooked rug. You are such a talented person and do beautiful work.

Joanne--what a gorgeous rug and such a kind and generous give-away!!

whatever happened to people being nice to others just because?? I caught all kinds of grief last week because I cleaned up and organized the new admin lady's office (she started this monday)The other's all rolled their eyes and said it wasn't my problem it was a mess and she could clean it when she got there. UGH!!! What's wrong with going above and doing something NICE??

What a fabulous rug. I don't blog(yet) but I do hook alot of rugs and am so inspired by you and others. Lots of kindred spirits in more ways than just hooking.
Be well.
Crossing my fingers that I may win. In the meantime, I'll continue to pass forward all kindnesses received.
Cheers,
Kathleen

Hello, my mom, Ter'e told me about your blog and I must admit, I love it, of course I love her, so I am not surprised. Your rug give-a-way is a wonderful and incredible gesture.

I could lie and tell you that I hope to win the rug and present it as a gift to her (her birthday was 8-3-10), but I cannot deny the truth!!!!

My mom has also made some gorgeous rugs, but alas, this redheaded child only has 1. It hangs at the place of honor in my dining room.

Maybe I can win yours so that I can adorn my bedroom wall with it as it matches beautifully!!

Thank you much for the opportunity.

What a giveaway!!!! I will be more than happy (and proud) to put this wonderful rug on my living room floor to show off. Thank you for such a nice drawing.

Joanne, please add me to the list of people who would love to be graced with this rug!

I'm going to try and pay this forward. Not only would I love to see this rug to take "lessons" from your hooking but I've been thinking a lot about what to do with my rugs. Since I can't put them on the floor because of my cats (they'd rip them to shreds), and I have no more wall space, I've been thinking of donating my rugs to the Cat Association here in Topeka, KS. The Cat Association is a no-kill shelter and we've adopted several of our cats from them. They also sponsor low or no-cost spay and neuter clinics. All round, they're a wonderful organization.

Anyway, I want to donate my rugs to them and then they can either raffle, auction or put them on eBay, whatever would help them make some money to defray expenses.

I usually make several monetary donations to them each year but am behind this year due to Cinnamon dying in December (with a $700 bill) and then horse expenses since then.

So my thought would be to first -- check out your hooking and observe how a 'master' hooks, and then donate the rug to CAT.

What a wonderful thing to do! You're such a great person, Joanne, and I'm blessed to know you.

I LOVE the antics of your cats and so enjoy your blog. I would like to be included in your give-a-way as your is wonderful. I love rugs, antiques, samplers and wool. As a child we were always taught to leave our camp site cleaner than when we arrived, to always offer to help a neighbor when the opportunity presented itself and to pick and give the flowers that grew in our yard. Paying it forward is a wonderful way to live and a terrific "rule" for you wonderful give-a-way :)

Joanne, your rug is simply wonderful...as must be your heart to give it away. Please enter me in your giveaway.Your work would be honored in my home, where it would be loved by animals and their people. Random acts of kindness and throwing bread upon the waters is how I live (something to do with my Age?). There isn't much I can do for others financially, and so I look for other ways. Having a chance to have this rug is something for which I am grateful. Thank you.

My Lands Of Mercy girl you are way generous! Such a beautiful rug and someone is going to be thrilled beyond measure!
You know when you pay it forward or just take the time to give a simple smile, help someone with a door, just some little act of kindness it really gives you the feeling of happiness probably more than the one you helped. It's the simple things of life that mean the most.

Beautiful Rug! I would love to be the lucky winner!I try to RAK (Random Acts of Kindness)people all the time.I hold doors open for anyone behind me (don't always get thanked though!)I treat my co-workers with baked goodies.I let people go in front of me at the grocery store if they only have a few items and I have "tons" in my cart. I could list more, but being considerate of others is really the way to be nice.

Oops! I think that I commented on the wrong post! Please enter me in your very beautiful and generous giveaway. I adore hooked rugs and tried my hand at it, but just wasn't any good at it. I'll stick with cross stitch and wool applique :) Congratulations on your almost 200th post! That is quite an accomplishment! Wishing you many many more. Your little kitties are so sweet. We had a cat for 18 years and although he passed almost 10 years ago I still miss him so.

Blessings, Patti

Gosh, Joanne, this is a very generous giveaway. I have already made a few of the wool trees you gave instructions for and I really enjoy reading your posts. I don't live far from you, so if I win, we might even be able to meet at Moccia's for a cheesteak! (well, we could meet anyway, I just thought it would be fun to say that!) haha!

Thanks again...
