What a Dreary Week - More Ups and Downs

Well it sure has been dreary the past week - I swear if this keeps up I'm going to start to get moldy from the rain and humidity. Actually today we had some sunshine and any minute now it's going to pour - they are calling for thunderstorms again tonite!

The week started off okay. One thing you have to know about me is I do things on a spur of the moment - no thinking - no planning at times - seems the best times are when you open yourself up and just let go!

Monday morning I got up and it was dreary out - and I felt "bored" I guess - one of those days where i didn't know what to do with myself - didn't feel like staying home, didn't feel like going anywhere, didn't feel like doing chores, didn't feel like doing sitting - Just didn't know what I wanted! (Just like a little kid I know!) So I decided to go to Atlantic City! They always offer up free rooms so I went online, booked a room, threw some stuff in a bag, kissed the kitties goodbye and off I went. I called my friend who has a shop down near Avalon (she stays in NJ 1/2 the week and half the week up this way) and she said she was down at her house until Wednesday. So I stayed the night in AC then on Tuesday drove down the Garden State and went to her co-op near Avalon. Picked her up and we went out to lunch and then spent the afternoon antiquing and shopping. It was a nice day - relaxing and laid back - just a good day and just what I needed. I didn't buy anything but love to look - you never know what treasures or ideas you will unearth! The rain held off until that evening which was nice - spent another nite down there and came home the next day.

Spent the next couple indoors due to the rainy crappy weather - so did some hooking and watched some movies. I tried to organize the hooking room - yep it's a royal mess again (or should I say still?) but that didn't last long so went back to hooking!

At one point on Wednesday, I went into the "pink" (spare) bedroom: this is what I saw on top of the bed:
so I lifted the covers and this is what I found:

Hey, what else is a sleepy Tiger supposed to do on a rainy Wednesday afternoon (and thursday and friday too!)

Have to tell you a little story about the comforter he's cocooned in - When I was 16 or 17 - I bought that single bed comforter at Hess' - which is now out of business! It was always a nice soft cottony material in pastels (hey my room back then was light green!) Well this silly comforter has been with me for well over 30 years now! It has been washed more times than I can count. Seems it is always adopted by someone! In my husband and my first apartment back in the late 80's early 90's - Nicky took to it - I could never put it away - always had to be in the corner, in a windowsill, on the bed somewhere - that was "his" blanket! Well since I lost Nicky - it seems Riley has taken over the blanket - but even way back when when Nicky wasn't on it - Sid or Miles was - or on cold winter nights it would be around me watching tv! That poor thing is still "kicking" - it's lost most of it's stuffing but it's so darn soft! Now I just keep it on the antique bed in that room for the kitties, and if you can't find Riley - guaranteed he's in it! Too funny.

Had another scare with my father early this morning - my Mom found him passed out cold on the bathroom floor - the ambulance came around 2:30 a.m. in the morning - took him to the hospital - got him revived and all his levels up and down (as the case may be) and thank goodness they didn't admit him. They told him he had was very lucky that had my mother not found him when she did he wouldn't be here right now. I talked to him several times throughout the day and he's really shaken up this time. I could just tell from the conversation - I felt bad talking with him and tried to cheer him up -I told him God was obviously not ready for him and his corny jokes and needed him to work on them here on earth first. So with that comment - I opened myself up to having to listen to a slew of really corny jokes from him - Yep my Dad is the King of Corn for sure! Let's see - here's one he told me "Why don't they let elephants in the pool" "Because they can't keep their trunks up" Oh please! At least I got him laughing again! Felt better after the last conversation - hope he did too!

Tonite went to Basket Bingo with my friend Nettie - this is the third year we have gone to this one - i suppose it's now an annual event - always go out to eat at this good Italian restaurant first then it's just around the corner to the church! We had a fun table tonite - one girl at our table won one basket - the rest of us walked out with a big "L" on our foreheads! It was fun though - lots of laughing. The first year I remember both Nettie and I won baskets. Last year and this year we were losers! Oh well!

Well this weekend is Mother's Day - wishing all the Mothers out their a very Happy Mother's Day - Enjoy your Day!

Riley says it all, lol.
Our rain finally stopped too, too much and it can be depressing.

Glad your Dad is ok.

Hey Joanne-Sorry to hear about your Dad's health scare. Hope he gets stronger each day! Riley looks pretty comfy in that comforter! Think I may need to come up and try it out!

Joanne...yeah, raining all the time, it seems. April is over, so I'm waiting for the showers to be done with. Quite a scare with your Dad...hope he continues to be better. Riley...how cute. Those old comforters...sooooo soft! Glad someone is getting to use it. WOW...it sounds like you had a much needed few days away. How fun would that be? To just take off. Miss Spontaneity I am not!

Joanne, today the forecasters said there is going to be a big yellow ball in the sky!!! It will be very bright--don't look directly into it. Maybe the flowers will perk up to see it too!
Great post. I really enjoyed reading it today.
