Yesterday I had my projects all packed, a cake baked, and everything waiting to load in the car and get an early start. I was supposed to meet up with Kathy first and go grab something to eat and then on to play at Grant Street.
Well I sat and waited until my husband got to work and he said it wasn't too bad - a little slippery but he had heard there were wrecks and overturned vehicles and such on some of the major roads. Grrrrrrrrr - so I thought I would wait it out. It was still spitting snow for a few hours and by the time it stopped and the sun came out it was too late for the 2 1/2 hour drive.
So here I sit with a chocolate cake and no one to share it with!

I normally would freeze it and save it for the next time I go out (which i hope is in a few weeks) but my freezer is stuffed full as I did major grocery shopping this past week! May cut it up and squeeze it in but then in pieces it dries up faster! Guess I'll just have to make another one.
If anyone wants the recipe for this one - It's a Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake - and one of the very easiest I ever made:
Take a box chocolate cake mix - make it according to the "pound" cake directions on the box - but pour the oil right in the bottom of the baking pan - then dump the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, and water and mix up until just mixed with a fork - dump in a bag of chocolate chips and stir! Bake according to package direction. So moist and tasty! I made a cooked icing and just poured it on so it's very a very thin layer of dark chocolate icing.
I guess on the bright side of "being bummed" - I have three clean bathrooms (why 2 people need 3 bathrooms is beyond me), 2 of the 3 bedrooms are cleaned (except for the rug hooking room of course), one more load of laundry to do, dinner is made waiting to heat up, and the day isn't even half over!
Hope everyone is having a great day - I'm sure the girls at Grant Street are!

Ugh! What a big bummer, Joanne!!! The snow surprised me too. All alone with a chocolate cake? Hmmmm... Is that the source of the energy to get so much accomplished around the house today? LOL! Sounds like an easy recipe though... I hope you get to visit with Grant Street next week...
Hi Joanne = I got up this morning feeliing like a wet bag of laundry so I didn't make it to Grant street either. It is a bummer - hope to make it next time. Don't eat to much cake = save me a piece!
Joanne,
Do you use a bundt pan or a 9 x 13? It sounds great! Easy is the real seller.

a clean house,why I would celebrate with a slice or 2 or 3 of cake.....yum yum/////looks great
ohdang! I'd come and help you eat your chocolate cake, for sure! Too bad it's a long drive there! {grin} My, but you are ambitious...clean bathrooms? ugh. But, hey...good for you! Hope it works out for you to have your day away soon.
Well....you could have visited The Cinnamon Stick and made someone very happy with CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! Snow snow go away...Joanne and the girls want to play!!!
Joanne ~
Bummer, but better to be safe than sorry!
I'm envious of all you accomplished. I hope you treated yourself to a piece {or two } of cake. Sounds yummy.
Pug hugs :)

I thought I smelled chocolate! :)
We missed you BIG time yesterday. Lots of laughs as usual. Will try to update my blog later tonight. Have a lot to do today. We didn't get any snow, and I'm glad. Look forward to seeing you soon! Glad it was a productive day for you though. The same thing happened to me last week with the weather. Was supposed to go somewhere, was sleeting, and then stopped. I too got a lot of cleaning done. Hmm, what a way to take out frustration LOL.
I want Springggggggg!!!!
Don't you just hate it when the weather messes up your plans? We were told to expect 1-3 inches and all we got was a dusting, which is fine with me, but I feel for the people in Oklahoma and Arkansas who are dealing with all that ice. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather holds for the big Lenexa, KS hookin in February. Last year, the weather was horrible and the roads were worse. So many slide-off's and wrecks and we almost turned around and came back home.
Joanne, I love all of the pictures you post of the kitties. We got a new kitten the first part of December, before Cinnamon died. Jackson is adorable (looks like a long-haired blue point Siamese) and purrs like a motorboat. I'll have to download my pictures to the computer and send you one.
Love that cake....since I was diagnosed as diabetic in October, chocolate is a much missed friend. But hey, my blood sugar is way down and I've lost 35 pounds!!
MMMmmmmmm Yummy! Chocolate cake! I'm sorry the snow stopped you from the hooking fun, but at least you have cake! :)
missed you.. was hoping to see you... maybe the next time!! your room looks great.. all cleaned up and organized.. makes you feel great after all is done!! question is>> how long will it stay that way!! LOL!! your boys are adorable as ever.. give them a squeeze for me!
