I was lucky enough to be able to go to Grant Street this week (between car problems and what not you never know). I arrived on Wednesday at Linda's (Grant Street Woolworks) and then Kathy, Linda and I went out for a night of bingo! Had a great time - Kathy was the winner of the evening!
Thursday was the hook-in and the big 5-0 party! Lots of fun, lots of people and lots of people hooking and me - didn't get a pic of hardly any of the rugs! So here are some random shots of the day/evening.
The Birthday Queen (Queen Kathleen) arrives...
She even made her own cake (From scratch even!)... (It was yummy - chocolate bliss!)
Brenda's rug - she's waiting for the baby to be born to put in the date...
Someone gave Kathy 50 gifts to open and numbered them 1 to 50 and made her open them in order (Now who would do that?)...I can well image her wondering what the HECK to do with all...
She finally found #1...
tap tap tap... still unwrapping...
And No. 50 - now is that face cause there wasn't enough neutrals in the quilt??? And can you believe she doesn't believe I made it (I mean me and my sewing machine a.k.a. The Beast..get along so great! LOL)
I brought the kitty carrier because Jill was bringing me the baby kitten she rescued at a day or two old to foster for her (Yea who am I kidding - he's mine more than likely unless someone really really wants him when he gets a bit older). He needs lots of care and loving since he's only 2 weeks old and still itty bitty. So i had the carrier on the floor and Beau just wouldn't leave it alone - it does have a flannel sheet in that Jonesy was on when he went to the vet - guess that's what he smelled - I finally opened the door so he could check it out - well of course he's bigger than that carrier! he's too cute...
Margo checking out her rug...it's always good to "step away from the rug" if you aren't sure you like something or to get a better view. Sometimes while hooking and right on top of it - it looks crappy - but if you step away it gives you a new perspective...
Even the birthday girl got some hooking done...some
Blowing out her candles - Her husband gave her candles that spelled out "Oh No The Big 5-0! Hey even at her age she was able to blow them all out without getting winded!
Genny's rug - still a few more states to go...
Kathy and Linda - I don't even remember what was going on here...
Tanya brought some roving and soap and some of the girls got their hands wet and were making felted soap - Bet their hands are all soft today!
Sherri came letter and she's making these felted sheep - they are so cool - She needs to hold a class on making them! I would sign up!
Even thought it was all about Kathy yesterday - my secret pal left me a package! Hey Secret Pal - knock it off - you've been way too generous too me - but thank you and my kitties thank you (even though they aren't speaking to me right now)
Oh my - what a haul I made - candy, treats for the boys, an old wooden handled strainer, a gorgeous piece of wool, some stacking boxes (love the bottom one with the row of pumpkins), a tin cake pan with candles, a kitty cake note pad, and probably more - I'm just being too lazy to go get it to check (I've not unpacked yet!)
There was also a "give-a-way" to sign up for - Kathy hand dyed some wool and was giving it away with candy. Well my number was pulled - woohoo - more beautiful wool - Thank you for picking my number! (Oh and even the kitty signed up!)
Sherri is the cat whisperer. I decided to go home last night rather than staying and leaving in the morning since I had to be at work at 1 - so the "baby" kitten needed a last feeding - Sherri did it so easily - thanks for the tips Sherri!
Isn't he adorable - being he's only 2 weeks old now he sleeps and eats and that's about it - when you hold him he keeps rolling around and loves to be held but he gets cold so fast so you have to keep him real close!
I brought him last night and immediately Riley got extremely upset and wouldn't come near me - Jonesy started making weird noises but kept trying to check him out (he was in the carrier and will stay in there for now with the heating pad on) but would hiss at him too! Oh I hate this part - As of tonite - it's still not "cool" with the boys but I'm hoping they relax soon.
Riley did a weird thing last night too - I went to bed around 2:15 or so (hey i had a 2 1/2 hour drive home and then had to get the kitty settled!) and Riley normally sleeps between my legs as I sleep on my stomach - well i was just about asleep and felt him jump on the bed - he walks up to my pillow and right in my face almost nose to nose he hisses at me - not once but twice - and then jumped down and I didn't see him until the morning! I've been a bit upset about this because I had the kitten in another room so I can't understand why I'm getting the cold paw like this! Oh like I said - i hope he starts relaxing - he's not happy and not eating right now (Riley not the kitten!)
So the kitten is being fed, held, kept warmed, and loved! Just showed my husband all the steps to do since he will be taking care of him tomorrow as I work all day at the co-op. We been trying to think of names for him - I've been calling him TK for "Tiny Kitten" but that was only until a name is picked. Everything I like my husband doesn't and vice versa.
He had mentioned he looks like "wolfman" so I came up with Edward or Eddie (for Eddie Munster!) - not quite sure he looks like an Eddie - Then tonite Phil said let's call him "Quentin" (From Dark Shadows - Quentin used to turn into a werewolf) and you know it kinda fits - its a big strong name for a little fighter - unusual yes but we started calling him that and he started purring! LOL So not sure if that's what it will be - but heck Jonesy is named after the kitty in the Alien movie - so why not!
So here are some pics from about 1/2 hour ago when we were feeding him... what a goober... There is a pic on Kathy's blog of him where he looks like a grumpy old man!
Well Kathy - I'm so happy to be your friend and glad to be a part of your 50th birthday - Now whens the next party?
Have a great weekend!

You guys have so much fun together, wish I had a group like that, here. I hope Riley isn't going to be too upset. Dora never did like moki here.
Debbie
I, too, envy you your group. And, I think you're very brave to take on a baby that young. Best wishes to you all!
Joanne, I'd been wondering of the little one had survived. Because he has so much spirit, I think he will grow up to be a wonderful cat. I'm glad you are adopting him, even though Jonesy and Riley are temporarily unhappy.
Looks like a fun day at Grant Street.
Wow! What a party!!! It's a great feeling to have a close knit group of pals to live it up with! Love those sheep that Sherri is making... yes... convince her she needs to teach these!!!! I think Quintin is going to love living with you guys... though what Riley did was really spooky!
Joanne ~
Lovely quilt you made for Kathy. That hooker sure knows how to celebrate! What a fun time you always have at Grant Street. I'm just a bit envious {grin}.
BK (baby kitty) is too cute. How kind of you to help him grow big and strong. I'm sure the other furbabies will adjust...or learn to ignore him.
Pug hugs :)

Oh Joanne, you really got some good shots!! It certainly was a wonderful day and I'm glad you were there to share it. that face with the quilt was me tearing up. It is my very first quilt that size. I have little pieces, but nothing like that. Have always, always wanted one. And the colors are just beautiful!!!!!!! Just the right combinations :)
The little one is certainly a fighter! Hoping things calm down a bit with big brothers. I'm sure each day will be something different.
Thanks for really capturing the day since I did such a lousy job of it!!!
Joanne, what a great kitty mother you are. You did a great job taking care of it. As far as he's concerned, you are his mother. He will be a good cat. Too bad the other one is jealous.
I love that cake and that quilt. What a generous gift. I wonder if Kathy pulled 50 hoops yesterday. Anyway what a great way to celebrate with good friends. Have a safe weekend. JB
hey Joanne let me know when the next party is ,if I am not at the doctors or in the hospital,it would be great to go with....what a tiny little kitten ,I would be afraid I would hurt it if I was taking care of it .....are you going to keep it?
