This past week I stocked up at all the grocery stores - now we have no room (as my husband puts it - no room for even a french fry in the freezer) and everything is stocked and put away. The "boys" have their food, treats, and litter, the husband has his snacks and rolls and beer, and the freezer is full, the bowls are full of fruit and the refrigerator full! Feels good to be done that for a while.
I am not a person that has a specific day to do the grocery shopping (My Mom went grocery shopping every Thursday hell or high water and had a routine for every chore). That is so NOT ME! So when I go I end up having to do it all and then not again for a while!
Today I decided since I had fresh peaches to make some peach buckle. I know I have blogged about the buckle before. Just one of my favorite Spring/Summer/Fall recipes - it's actually the "Blueberry Buckle" recipe but I adjust different fruit like peaches, apples, strawberries, raspberries, whatever!
Of course me being me, I just can't make one - but three!
They are cooling in the dining room under the ceiling fan!
Oh and I have to mention - and I'm sure you all knew about this but me - that every time I open a new plastic wrap or aluminum foil wrap, which I did today, I always think of Bren. A few years ago Bren either blogged or posted on our group about the "lock tabs" on the side of the wrap containers. Me, until that time, had never know they were there! What a pleasure it is to know and keep that roll in place now! LOL So Bren, thanks again - it's the little things in life that make me smile and thank you for that tidbit of info that sure makes life easier!
Another thing I did in the kitchen today besides just making messes was to make potato salad. This is something that I really wasn't fond of making but my husband loves it. I now do not boil the potatoes anymore. I found an easier way. I just clean the taters with a veggie brush, poke a fork in them to make "holes" and throw them in the microwave until soft - my nuker takes about 8-12 miles depending how many taters I have in there. Then I leave them out to cool and cut up - So much easier in my opinion and one less dish to clean as I pop them on a paper towel in the microwave. Anyone try this before? I can not taste a difference from being cooked this way!
Well back to the kitchen to clean up and empty the dishwasher plus someone just got up from his nap and wants treats....
What a yawn I can practically see the end of his tail...
Okay, okay, stop giving me the hairy eyeball I'm getting the treats...
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I microwave my potatoes, just enough to get soft, then I broil them, so I can make a baked one a lot quicker.
Sorry about that photo, just had to add that since it was one of the weird fun we had while hiking;) None tonight though.

WOW! I think you got the ole stink eye from your furbaby.
Oh, those baked goods look yummy. I wish I liked to bake but it's a good thing I don't because I'd eat it all myself.
Pug hugs :)

So when are you visiting with Peach Cobbler - girls it is REALLY nice to be "not so far away" from Joanne when she goes on a baking spree...woohoo!!!
Going to try mic-ing my potatoes for potato sale tomorrow...will let you know what I think...XO
WOW! I would never have thought of making the potatoes for salad in the microwave! What a great idea!
Thanks for bringing the wonderful treats from Shady Maple to Grant Street last week. It makes me want to drive to Lancaster county and go to their bakery. Think I could talk Zip into it???
Love the Riley yawn! I think he's exhausted from all the work in the kitchen!
Are you sending some of the peach buckle this way? Sure looks delish!
My mother used to make Blueberry Buckle for us when we stayed at our little cottage on the lake. I'll bet it's great with peaches! I love peach pie. Great idea with the potatoes...not fun to boil them in the hot weather. Your kitty is too much!
