Long May You Run

I haven't got as much as I have wanted to accomplished the past week or so.  I really need to stop wasting time and get more organized.  I suppose I am what I am and that's what I will be! No use beating myself up about it - just need to move on.

I finally matched up some mug rugs and mugs and got them over to the store to sell - I have a few more but need the right color mug.

Jonesy has now lived with us for over two years and he's just such a wonderful little guy - haven't regretted adopting him for a moment.  I truly miss Miles but am so blessed to have these two get along.  They crack me up every day with their antics and "wrasslin" together.  And of course their "cuteness" - Riley has become extremely affectionate the past few months since we lost Miles.  I tend to wonder if it's because Miles was always so mean to him he didn't know what to think!  Jonesy of course has been "sweetness" since day one!

Everyone keeps asking me when I will be adopting another kitty.  (Oh and Jill keeps sending me these adorable pictures).  I really don't know - For now I'm enjoying have two cats that get along and would love another but will just have to see - Except Riley (who I picked from a picture)  each of my cats have come into my life randomly and I can't image better personalities for us.  I guess we shall see!

Wednesday I ventured out to Chambersburg - yes I know again.  Another question I get all the time is why I drive so far to go to a hook-in!  Well I don't know?  LOL - I do enjoy driving.  The directions out there are easy - once you get on the turnpike - it's just about an hour on there and then another 1/2 hour or so on I-81 and then you are there.  Yes it does take me 2 1/2 hours and yes it's approx. 145 miles.   I have no problem getting into my car and just going whether it's alone or with someone.  I have no problem making a wrong turn somewhere - I mean, heck, someone built that road I'm traveling on, that means it comes out somewhere right?   I just load up the CD player and sing along and time goes fast.

Anyway I highly recommend a trip to Grant Street.  The people there make it fun and there is always something going on - you are surrounded by gorgeous wools and learn so much from each other.   I can honestly say this is one of the best hooking groups I have been a part of so far.

So - Wednesday night Linda, Kathy and I went to play bingo at the Fire Company.  Then on Thursday it was the hook-in.  Lots going on and lots of laugh again.

Nancee was working on her rug she drew up the previously week.

Later Kathy and Nancee and Jackie were helping Nancee pick out more wools for her rug.  I do believe by the end of the night most of the above was pulled out and curious to see what it now looks like!

Bonnie was working on her crow rug...

All the crows are done...

Jackie was busy picking out her next project and picking wools.  Here is a gorgeous piece of wool she dyed the past week - much better in person...

Linda didn't have the right color for her rug (Image that - her own shop full of wool) so off to the dye pots...

Later she's hooking on her flag purse....

Sherri came later and had finished the cat rug she started a week or so prior - she ended up whipping the edges while there that evening...

Beth and Jill looking oh so serious - didn't get a pic what Jill was working on.   Jill sat and chatted -she brought one project backing and one projects wool - no problem -that girl needs some time to just sit and relax!

Kathy got a present from her secret pal.  Wish I knew who her pal was because I need to have a talk with them!  Thursday night she was a brat! B-R-A-T! And then she gets rewarded! Oh my!   Oh and contrary to what you might hear from her - I am not a fan killer!

Me, i just worked on filling some hit and miss on a piece of linen and came home and finished it this weekend.  Now it just needs to be bound...

Okay the wool room is a disaster again (still).  this is one corner.  The floor has piles of wool and junk and whatnot ...

I did manage to get the wool all taken off the cobblers rack and then put on in an organized fashion. There is still more "stuff" to deal with - just need to open those closet doors and organize in there to put things away

That laundry basket is filled with the smaller pieces of wool I have to organize somehow.  Of course I have my supervisor to help keep me in line!

Hard to believe next week is July already!   I will be making the trip to Grant Street again this week.  Lauren, from Rugs and Pugs will be visiting with friends, and I'm so looking forward to her visit - It's always fun to meet fellow bloggers in person!   Safe travels Lauren.

The past few days been spent mostly in the kitchen - have some things made up and put in the freezer - but that is always nice then its a no-brainer when you don't feel like cooking.  Had some peaches on their way out and made up some more peach buckles - but this time mixed peach and blueberries.  The husband took one to work and the other are in the freezer.  Grocery shopping is done and really should be working on cleaning the house rather than updating blogs - but oh well - i am what I am and what will be will be, right?

Have a great week!

Indiana Wants Me

Another great time was had by one and all at Grant Street on Thursday.

Once again, I went out to Linda's B & B (full service place to lay your head on 1500 count Egyptian Cotton sheets and even get a free pair of sandals our of the deal in the morning! Thanks Linda!) on Wednesday and stayed until Friday.

Wednesday night Linda and Kathy and I went to play bingo and came home losers with a little less ink (except Kathy) in our dabbers.

Thursday was the hook-in, of course, and our friend from Indiana, Cheryl, was planning on spending the day with us.  Kathy and I and Cheryl all met online through a rug hooking group and both I am happy to call friends and am so lucky to have been able to know meet these women in person.  This is Cheryl's third visit to the Chambersburg area - She has an aunt in Chambersburg  - so we are so lucky to have her spend a day of her vacation with us.

Cheryl is always smiling!   Even telling us how her aunt's dog "ate" her $600 new glasses, she only barely lost that smile!

Kathy, http://www.woolfind.blogspot.com/, covered the day much better than I can so I will just show you some random pictures...

Cheryl doing some shopping for wool for her rug she's working on...Kathy helping her

Cheryl got a lot done on her rug -she was working pretty hard for being on vacation...

Pretty Beth was working hard too - she got a lot done on a new rug she's working on - I believe she only had the red done when she got there...

Barb was working on her quilt to donate to an organization for pregant women...

Genny and her sister hooking away (Genny is another that is always smiling!)

Genny's sister (sorry did not catch her name) showed a quilt she finished - love the patterns - scrappy quilts are my favorite...

Linda had been hooking since 10:00 - no wonder she's yawning.  Jill was actually pulling some loops too...

Nancee was transferring a pattern and picking wools for her new project... ( bet it's done already!)

Look at everyone working hard...

Jill was off picking out a new project (Something Jill does) and Kathy picked up her hooked and pulled some loops on her rug!

"Regardez-moi, je ne soient pas mignons!  S'il vous plaĆ®t prendre ma photo"

Enough silly business...back to work

Joan was there too - So nice to see her.  She finished her "leaf" rug - So pretty in person - nice vibrant colors...

This is Cheryl's Memory Rug of a special person in her life she lost.  His name is written in the stream..  It's all done except she's having trouble with the bears face.  I'm sure a solution will come to her.  The mountains are so cool.

See I told you Linda was working hard...

Me, I'm such a slacker - I got this rug (you've all seen this before) whipped and also whipped two mug rugs.  I did manage to put a piece of linen on my frame and did no more than a line - I think I was too busy flapping my gums all day...

Jackie and Bonnie arrived - These two are so much fun to be around!

If you read Kathy's blog she mentioned Bonnie was there - Well here's proof - Bonnie was there!

And this would be Bonnie behind her new rug she's working on - the crows look great in person - lots of personality!

Always a good time at Grant Street!

Now I need to get off this computer and go find myself some motivation!

Well it's Father's Day weekend so Happy Father's Day to you and yours!

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy

Happy Friday to you!

This past week has been a hot one here in Eastern Pennsylvania for sure - feels more like August than June - but seeing the snow shovel in the shed keeps me from complaining.

Wednesday I loaded up the car with my hooking supplies, my backpack, some donuts and Nettie and off we went to Chambersburg.

We was kind enough put us up for a couple of nice.  Wednesday night we had a fun evening out with Kathy and Linda and then Thursday morning it off to the hook-in.

Always something brewing there!  Besides all the hooking and talking and eating and laughing going on - we had some wonderful entertainment Thursday morning.

We heard the elevator come up and it was like being at a Broadway show - there was a song coming from the elevator and then a song and a dance!  I didn't have my camera ready so I was treated to an encore!

Hope you enjoy it!

Let me explain.  The star of this video is our very own Linda!   Besides Grant Street Wooworks , the building houses military business owned by her husband.  Linda had been downstairs and her husband showed her this authentic Uncle Sam outfit and it now Linda's!  I'm terrible with history but I believe Linda said it was from World War 1 - I am probably wrong!   It's really cool in person and in wonderful shape!   It is now on a mannequin in  the shop for all to see!

The day was filled with fun of course but I did manage to get some things done - Here is what i put in the center of that hit and miss I did last week - started hooking some mug rugs on the left over linen - after i fill in the rest of the linen will cut apart and "whip"

I managed to get some things "whipped" and didn't bring the right colors to finish all the little mats....

Angie finished her first small mat and finished whipping it - I missed getting a pic.  Barb was working on a small baby quilt and then cutting out some patterns...

Genny is hooking a rug designed by her son I believe....

A little break from hooking and some "interneting" going on....

Isn't Kathy just the sweetest most thoughtful most wonderful person - always there ready to lend a hand and get you whatever you need...

Here she is helping Sherri get her rug ready for whipping...

Not sure what Sherri is explaining to Nettie - or maybe she's practicing to be one of the Supremes?
"Stop in the Name of Love lalalallalalala"

Sherri's cool kitty rug she needs to finish binding - Love the gray and black guy - reminds me of Jonesy....

Her new rug...

Nancee finished her dancing bunnies.  Love the colors - wonderful in person....

Someone mentioned there was a bug on the floor....

Some of my pictures didn't come out - didn't get a good pic of Nettie's horse rug or what Linda was working on but rest assured people were working in between the silliness!

If you are ever in the area of Chambersburg on a Thursday - Grant St is happening place to be - you just never know what to expect and chances are you will leave with a smile on your face.  Heck I drive 2 1/2 hours one way to attend because I have found this group to be one of the best I have attended to hook with!  You do not have to be a hooker - you can bring anything to work on.   Just a fun day.

This weekend I'm hoping to get done that piece of linen and then get everything whipped.  Not sure what I will start on next.

Not sure what else I will get into...how about you?
