Strawberry Fields Forever

Well for those you that have cats, you know just how much they are creatures of habit (sortof like husbands!).

Each of my cats have their own "things", their own "routines" they do with me, my husband, themselves.  They also have their own likes and dislikes.

One of Jonesy's routines with my husband is to sit outside the bathroom door and wait for him to be done

with his shower in the morning before work and if he doesn't open the door fast enough, Jonesy "screams"

for him (and that boy doesn't let up when he wants something).  So he opens the door and has to give Jonesy a hug and tell him they will get breakfast as soon as he's done.  So Jonesy waits patiently (most days).

Also, one of Jonesy's (Kathy, Jr.)  likes is this...

And being that it is strawberry season

both my husband and I have been having a bowl of strawberries with some whipped cream almost daily.  So of course Jonesy gets to have some whipped cream

So why am I telling you this?

Well the other morning my husband gets out of the shower and was getting ready for work.  I guess he didn't open the door right away because Jonesy started screaming for him.  So he opens the door and picks up Jonesy to give him his first of the morning hug.  Well Jonesy starts licking his face - you see my husband was shaving and half his face was covered in shaving cream!  Yep - Jonesy thought he was wearing whipping cream.  My husband said the face that Jonesy made and the look he gave him was priceless (wish I had a picture) - he immediately wanted down and out the door - Jonesy was mad - guess he was thinking Dad had played a joke on him! I was rolling on the floor when he told me this.  Oh and that morning that he had his bowl of strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast, Jonesy didn't want any - He couldn't get him to eat any.  Now later in the day when I had mine - Jonesy had some - guess Mom can be trusted! hahahahahaha!

Just thought I'd share that little story!

So any of you ever have these?

I have to laugh - I feel like a dealer.  I get them at Costco.  (They do sell them at Walmart too but they are expensive there).   Everyone I give a taste of these too loves them and I end up buying bags to give them.  They are very addicting.   Today I bought 4 bags - the guy in the line in front of me was looking at them and then asked about them - next thing you know he's asking what aisle to get them in - Guess he thought I was some crazy lady with 4 bags (2 pounds each)  of pomegranates and Acai berries but decided he had to have a bag!   (So you know who out there - if you need another bag - let me know - I'm stocked up!)

I also went to some antique stores and thrift stores today - Just window shopping but I did buy this...

It's a wooden child's booster seat.  Needs to be cleaned up - and maybe painted - haven't decided yet - but can't you see this with a rug on it and used as a footstool or just to hold magazines or a plant, or.....

Hope you all have a great weekend and can get out there and play if that's what you want to do!

Ain't Wasting Time No More

Okay - I am wasting time but I really need to start living by the above song title!  I amaze myself at how much time I lose some days.   Honestly when I was working full time I got a whole lot more done then I do now.  I won't, however dwell on this and will just move on and try to do better this week.

Actually been a busy week or so and lots of fun!  Saturday, a week ago past, I got to work with Judy at the Cinnamon Stick to learn the ins and outs so I could help her out the following Saturday while she had other plans.  It was during her herb faire and was a lot of fun listening to all the conversations and watching people shop and buy.

Then on Tuesday last week I got to remove my spectacles and put the contacts back in.  Woohoo!  I can see again!  I do have an appoitnment this afternoon for a follow-up and if everything is okay I can order my new contacts.  I tell you - I have worn glasses since I was in 4th grade and then contacts since I was in high school and I just can't handle wearing my glasses full time.   The weeks I was wearing them it was raining a lot or lots of sun and I know I spoke about clip-ons, of which i did buy a pair at Walmart and couldn't handle them - not for the fact that the idea of "clip-ons" just didn't jive in my brain, but the fact they had so many clips - 4 on each lens - and that's all i saw when they were attached to my glasses - My glasses aren't huge so any little thing like that just takes away from my vision i guess.  So keeping my toes crossed today I can go ahead and order my new contacts and move on from this.  7 visits to eye doctors in a month and a half is way too much.

Oh, and sorry I do not have many pictures this time! Can you believe everything I've been doing the past week and half  I have carried my camera with me and forgot to take even one picture! Geez louise !

So, Thursday it was off to Grant Street again.  I ended up going to Kathy's house first and we went off antiquing and then to the hook-in.  Another fun day and lots of rugs to ooh and ahhh over.  Kathy at least remembered to take pictures.

Friday morning I was up and out of the house on my way to Renningers to meet up with Sharon.  Sharon's husband was participating in a radio show so Sharon and I hung around walking around the mart and radio market.  Had a nice lunch and time with Sharon and her husband!  You can check out pics of the day on Sharon's blog.

Saturday morning it was off to the Cinnamon Stick to "work" - if you can call having fun work - while Judy had to take off for another commitment that afternoon.  Being a rainy day it was a busy day - the day was over before I knew it!

Sunday I decided to work on making some primitive flags.  I soaked the red ticking in coffee for two days and then sponge painted the star fabric with some walnut stain to "age" them up a bit.   Also had to collect some branches and cut them down to attach the flags too.

Monday I spent the day tooting around with Judy - we went out towards Lancaster and went to a few antique stores stores and had lunch at a tea room.   It was yummy!  Had a good dessert too - I opted for the cheesecake but Judy had a cream puff that looked delicious and it was the size of a softball!  We both said we were stuffed when we waddled out.

I participated in a swap on my online group AAPG.  Robin had gotten me and certainly spoiled me - I couldn't believe everything that kept coming out of that little box.  20-30 skeins of DMC thread, a battery operated candle, 5 fat quarters of fabric, a pomengranite scented satchel packet, a kitty notepad, a stork scissors, a wonderful wool appliqued cover on a notebook she made, and a slo a stitched prim kitty pillow she made - I just love everything - thank you Robin!

So that's what I've been up to.  Had some computer glitches which after updating the virus scanner and running that and some other tweaks and twigs - it seems to be running better - now to get caught up on my blog hopping!  Have a wonderful day!

I Feel Better All Over

Thank you all for your healing wishes.  I still have the cold but feel human again.  Just down to some coughing fits and using up those boxes of tissues but overall feeling so much better.   I hear from so many people how the colds lately just last and last and last.  Hoping its definitely on its way out and hope it stays out!

About those little mats, Julie asked if they were the Oxford punched.  Nope, just hooked.   I have done the Oxford punch in the past but I prefer using my hook to punching.  Just me  Oh and I had already hooked some of those little mats before I got sick - can't take credit for being creative while sick because I was a complete lump until I decided to pick up the needle and yarn and finish whipping them!

This past week was spent mostly at home.  This little guy is never happy when I start coughing so much he has to jump off my lap and wait for me to be done...

This little guy is still addicted to treats and always looking for them (i keep bags of them on the shelf in the hooking room and he gets them out and throws them at my feet!

He also has been spending time with me watching the boobtube...

And of course napping....

Well Tuesday night I decided to go to Bingo - I do like to play bingo and play weekly.  I was happy I went because at the end of the night I got this....

and got to yell this...

and then did this

I was over the moon - I won the jackpot of the evening and won it alone (which to even win is a rarity for me but alone! woohoo)  Oh and the jackpot of the evening was $1,000 and it was all Mine! LOL

Wednesday I decided to bake these Sour Cream Coffee Cakes...

And Thursday I decided to go to Grant Street, however they were having a 3-Day Dye Class so the Hook In was not going to start until the evening.  I ended up spending the day with Kathy,  We had some "designer" yummy iced coffee, I meandered around her house looking at all the treasures she hooked and stitched and sewed and then off we went to do some antiquing and junking.   I didn't buy anything but it's always fun looking and seeing what's out there.  We had a good and filling late lunch and then remembered it was Cinco de Mayo so before we went to Grant Street decided to stop at a Happy Hour.  Can you believe the 20 something year old waitress didn't even card us - The nerve!

Anyway - it was off to Grant Street for some fun and laughs as usual. There were still some stragglers from the dye class but a lot of the girls had left since they had to be back again today.

I took my Flower Basket rug to bind.  I finished that and here it is all done.  I tried to get the true colors - the pic is a little off - it's a little more "drab" in person...

I also received a cool "RAK' from a friend in my group this week in the mail - Mimi - she made these little appliqued/penny stitched ornies - aren't they cool!

So now it's Friday - today I'm hoping to get some hooking done along with some silly chores.  I want to run out too to find a Mother's Day gift for my Mom.  She's so hard to buy anything for so not sure what I will get her but will find something!

Happy Mother's Day and have a wonderful weekend.

Sick Again

Long time no post again!  This past week I've been down and out with a nasty cold/sore throat/fever.  Now it's just a bad cough and a lot of nose blowing.  When I get hit, I get hit.  Even as a young girl my "cough" always sounded horrible - Even at three I would hack like a 5 pack a day smoker - cough medicines would never work and I even remember my parents giving me a shot of whisky to try to calm the cough! LOL

Anyway - Not complaining, just tired of coughing and blowing my nose.  Since I'm up most of the night coughing I've been sleeping a lot on and off throughout the day so therefore not much has been getting done.  Along with the house being a mess, laundry not done,  I haven't been keeping up with my blog friends either - something I need to sit and do as I love getting lost in blogs!

What I have done as I was sitting here like a lump was finish whipping some of my little mats I hooked about a month ago - so here some pics of just rugs from my scrap basket - not all my "colors but was using what I had...

Hope you are all are healthy and happy and enjoying May!
