Started pulling wools out of the cabinet to over dye...
Then I got the wool to soaking by placing towels on the dining room floor and filling up the tubs
Miles decided to guard his water fountain in case I got an idea to soak some wool in there...
Covering the counter with saran wrap and getting out my "tools"...
Playing Mad Scientist and Mixing up some formulas...
(Oh and I didn't get a picture but by the end of the day - this saran wrap was a multitude of colors! Like I said - I'm not neat - I spill and splash - All I can say is thank goodness for my Clorox Bleach pen - no matter what I cover I still stain something!)
The first of many more pots of wool on the stove... (oh and the stove was a complete wreck - took some elbow grease to get it clean again! LOL)
Well I have to say - normally when I dye I do not get the colors I'm looking for since our water is way wonky. Today I was really really pleased with some of the colors - of course the following picture doesn't do it justice - the ones on the left are way more prim and darker than the appear, same with the golds - more "old gold", greens more "green", and then the ones that look blue are actually an antique black - in person you do not see any blue, same with the "browns", much darker in person and deeper, and the reds - more red but not bright - make sense? LOL Anyway - I dyed a lot of wool so will have plenty for my project and my stash for now! Still need to replenish some of the hand dyed stash but hey there are only so many hours on a hot and muggy day one can stand over the stove!
Now to get started on my project...

Wow - you got a lot accomplished today! Don't you just love dye days? I usually think it's a lot of fun to play in the pots. Covering your counters with Saran wrap is a good idea - I usually cover mine with a cheap vinyl tablecloth from the Dollar Store and that works too. You got some really pretty colors! Did you use new wool? Or is it recycled clothes? Can't wait to see what you work on next.
You got a lot of beautiful primitive colors, those will look gorgeous in the rug. I meant to email you, I received your gift and that was very thoughtful of you to think of me. I have some goodies I need to put together, fun having a cat loving friend.

You did get some beautiful wools! I need to have a dye day too... but am thinking it is too hot. Tomorrow is Judy Cripps' monthly hook-in, so I'm gonna go buy some! :)

Oh, you ended up with some beautiful wool! I still haven't taken the plunge and dyed wool...one of these days when I have some free time. Oh, if I wait until then I never will so I guess some day I'll have to make the time!
Pug hugs :)

When Joanne dyes wool, she dyes wool! Lots of wool.... Love the colors Joanne, great job! Now I can't wait to see what you hook with them :)
Hi Joanne,
Hey, I'm one of those people who gets the dyepot out for one little color and I'M STILL MESSY! LOL!!!
You did a great job. That looks like a week's worth of dying instead of a day!
Can't wait to see the chairpads.
