What's a Whatnot?

I feel I have totally wasted this past week.   This cold has knocked me through a loop and I did absolutely nothing!  I hate weeks like that.   I just layed on the daybed with my remote, my box of tissues and my bottle of cough suppressant (didn't do what it promised! LOL).

Anyway enough of that - I did manage to get my Whatnot's rug whipped and finished.  Right now I have it laying in the living room in front of the TV cabinet.  Not sure where it will eventually end up.  I tried my darndnest to make it look older and not "new" looking...  It measures approx. 18" x 36"

Quentin's been up to his usual kitten self.  He's not even 6 months old and getting so big - his tail is long and his paws are large!  And my little "baby" is losing his kitten look to him - Look at his mug taken this afternoon while he was chirping at the birdies...  Getting to be such a big boy!

His new thing besides taking things out of the trash can and playing with them (mostly empty treat bags or paper) is playing with bottle caps.  You will find them out of the recycling and all over the house at any given time.  He cracks me up - I'm calling him the "hoarder" - Maybe it's from watching too many episodes of that show with my husband and he's thinking that's the way to be!

Here's a pic of this afternoon treat time so you can how big he's getting!  (And yes that would be the empty treat bag he took out of the trash - and the dollar was taken from my purse - I'm telling you - he's a pickpocket too...)

Well i'm hoping this upcoming week to finally pick up my hook and hopefully I will be able to get myself out to Grant Street for some much needed fun!  I also need to start thinking of doing my taxes - Oh joy what fun....

Well better go.... Jonesy wants dinner ... and is being very verbal about it!

Have a great week!

I hope you feel better and get back to yourself, that cold is not fun and lasts too long. He sure is getting big, and so nice that he has fit in so well. Moki still harasses Izzy, but she goes so bezeerk he does it more, since it is so fun for him, lol.

Joanne, So sorry to hear that you feel miserable - hope this week is better. What is it about gray cats? Shadow does the same thing - he's a hoarder. He takes his stash of things to our daughters room - empty treat bags, candy bar wrappers, anything that sounds like treat bags, milk cap rings, pieces of basket reed, just like Quentin. Carrie will come down with a handfull of things laughing at what Shadow has stashed now. ~Ann

Your rug looks very nice and I think that you have succeeded in making it look antique. My, the little rascal grew fast. One of my barn cat take is for ever taking a red plastic strip that I remove from the powdered milk replacer bags when I open a new bag, it never fails.

I hope that you will feel better soon. In the mean time get all the rest you can so your body can heal. JB

Hi Joanne, I guess your body is telling you it needs rest whether you like it or not. I like your rug, it's gorgeous. Your kitties are so pretty. Ours dig out things to play with too until they bat them under the furniture and can't get them. Well, take care and get rid of your cold :o)

I wondered the same thing... what a whatnot is? LOVE your rug and looks just like an antique rug! Wasn't this fun to hook? I wonder what pattern Kelley has coming up?
I hope you are feeling better real soon and can get to Grant Street. These cold viruses these days seem to hang on forever!
That Quentin sure is one handsome guy! It's amazing how soon they loose the kitten look..... but not the kitten playfulness! He must be saving those dollars for more treat bags! LOL!!
Sending warm wishes and get well hugs!
