Cat People (Putting Out Fire)

What a week again! It's always something!

Last Thursday I went to the ATHA Biennel in Lancaster.   I took many pictures of the rugs but I'm sure you all have seen them by now on other blogs!

It was great seeing some old friends and ones having met only via the Internet and now meeting them in person!

Here's Lauren and Kathy...

And those two cuties Bonnie and Jackie...

It was great seeing all the rugs and visiting all the vendors also!

This week I also received a RAK package in the mail from Merrie - a friend from Oregon - a member of our online group AAPG!  She certainly cheered me up - so many things have been going wrong lately and it came on a day I needed  a smile!

Thank you so much Merrie - it was a wonderful surprise and I love everything!

She sent me the cutest apron with kitties - I think it's going to be too nice to use since I'm a mess in the kitchen!  Also she gave me a pile of wool - so prim and I can't wait to hook with it, and also a Punch Needle pumpkin "Give Thanks"

Her punching is "perfection" - Love how she finished it off too.  I just love it!

Again thank you Merrie for making my day!

I also decided to dye some wool this week - really need to dye some more but this was a start.  Hardly anything out exactly as I intended but love what i got - the picture doesn't do it justice - I got some very nice prim colors (keept thinking of Kathy - these are very "Kathy colors - neutrals! LOL)

I have to get busy as I have to have some of my work over to the Heritage Center mid-November for the Folk Art Sale - I was invited to participate again and need to get hooking and finishing and labeling some rugs!  I was able to draw up some patterns to hook the other day at work at the co-op so just need to find the time to sit and hook.

Had an appointment last week for my eyes (again! let's see that makes how many times this year?) Anyway - my right eye has mostly healed - Woohoo! The left eye however (which was the "bad" one anyway) is still not out of the woods yet.  This eye may have the permanent blurry vision - but I'm thinking it's getting clearer - so that's a good sign!  So another 10 days of drops and gel in the eye and I go back on Monday to see how it's going!

A lot of mine time the past few weeks has been spent keeping all the kitties happy!  Jonsey is having a little bit of an issue of jealousy over the new little guy but believe me - he doesn't lack for hugs, loving and attention - I think he just doesn't know how to act.

Riley still isn't too keen on the idea of the new guy but is not hissing like he was.

Been spending this week with Quentin trying to get him to start drinking his formula for a bowl (not having it - he wants his bottle!) and even eating soft kitty food (not having it - but Jonesy and Riley are eating it!)  .  We are also trying out litter training - and he's taking right too it - so happy about that!

Been spending a lot of time sitting on my butt on the floor with Quentin and letting him roam around - he's motoring pretty good now  - Riley and Jonsey have even been hanging around and we are all "playing" to a point.  Jonsey (like i said is having some issues) keeps "rolling" the little guy and "going for his neck" - I truly don't think he will hurt him and let them interact but I'm right there just in case!  I'm thinking he just wants to play or show off in front of Riley!

So here are some pics thru-out the week...

In this picture - Quentin in under the fleece on top of his heating pad...

Not fair Quentin gets to hog the heating pad

Hey, what are you looking at?

Ah, nothing like a heating pad and a fleece to watch TV by

No, I'm not totally gray, I have some white too!

Jonesy's hogging my heating pad again...

Hey you - Hey...

So why does Mom look different from us?

Listen kid, I'm telling you she's not your REAL mother - You're ADOPTED, just like the rest of us...

(Hahahahaha - he'll believe anything I tell him!)

Rub my belly please...

Ah, finally some piece - time for a nap...

Hey, get out of my basket...

I told you - back off...

Okay - if you stay you will have to take a bath first...

Hey this is kinda comfy...

Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend.  Can you believe there is the "s" work in the weather report this weekend!  Yep - SNOW - hard to believe!  I don't want it - not ready - it has finally just felt like fall!

Okay - off to play with the boys - Quentin just woke up from his nap and is climbing up my side! Ouch!

Growing Pains

Well the little guy is growing fast I think!   His paws are getting bigger and his body is starting to grow into his head! LOL!  It's so hard to get a picture as he just never sits still!

He's starting to stay awake longer and even tries to play.  Riley is still unsure of him - Jonesy just wants him as a toy (he rolled the little guy the other day - don't worry - no one was hurt - i was right there!)

So here are a "few" pictures....

Monday afternoon Jonesy was checking him out (look how big Jonesy looks!)

Hey, what are you looking at?

Not wanting to nap...

Tuesday checking him out again...

Tuesday night - trying to get a pic of him to show you how big he's getting...

This afternoon - he wants to "play" and not nap...

He's been so much fun watching him grow and change each day - his teeth are coming in and he's using them...on our fingers!  He's even starting "bath" himself!  Next week I will try to see if he takes his formula by himself from a tiny bowl and then start adding food maybe.  Hopefully the "litter" training will come soon - so far he still needs help with that!

Yesterday I met up with Kathy and Linda at the "Harvest" celebration at The Wool Studio- there was of course tons of wool and various vendors.   It was nice and I was good - nothing knocked my socks off (not that I was wearing them - still stretching it out wearing sandals!) that I had to have!   Of course there was some wool that I could have used but again nothing that "wow'd" me.  Saw some old friends which was nice.   Forgot to take pics!

Tomorrow is the Biennial in Lancaster.  I'm not an ATHA member so am only going to go for the rug show and check out the vendors.  Should be a fun morning - meeting up with the girls again and hoping to pick up some motivation and inspiration while I'm there.   NOTE TO SELF - DON'T FORGET CAMERA AND DON'T FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES!

Have a great day!

Spirits in the Night

Last night there was a great gathering of "witches" in Hereford, PA!

Judy of the Cinnamon Stick (http://thespicecupboard.blogspot.com/) held her annual "Witches Nite Out".  She does this as a Customer Appreciation as she loves this season as to a lot of her regular customers!

I attended the event last year but this year Judy asked if I could help her and Tony out!  Not a problem in my book - It was wonderful to see everyone pour in the store at 6:00 p.m. and a lot stayed until the wee hours of the evening (okay just kidding there but basically some helped close the place!).  Judy has some of the best customers and they all seemed to have a great time just enjoying the store and shopping and enjoying each others company.

I so wish I got more pictures, there were so many great looking "witches" and some of those witches brought their "familiars" (even some men dressed as a cat!) , there were dancing witches hats (check out video below), and even Molly (Joy's yorkie) dressed as a witch!   So much fun and so much good food - Judy and Tony went over the top with decorating and preparing everything!

So here are some pics of the evening - sorry there aren't that many...

A great night for sure - even if dressing as a witch isn't your thing - i bet you still would have had a good time!

Now my blog post wouldn't be complete without a Quentin update.  He's growing for sure - his legs are getting longer and his paws bigger (that belly too!)

these pics were all taken yesterday

this is Quentin napping in the kitty tent while I was baking for last night (Oh and I managed to start my oven on fire - trying something new and it all overflowed and I had a huge fire in my oven - took half a container of salt to put out and about an hour cleaning and scraping the oven - only me! LOL)

Gotta watch him every minute - he motors around pretty good - 1/2 crawl 1/2 walk...

Relaxing after eating...

He loves to be held...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Quentin's Theme

Okay - so there is no hooked rugs to show.

Everything has been about the kitties lately!

Quentin (yes, that is still his name unless something hits me better!) is such a fighter.  I think from Sunday to Monday he grew some too! Today he's back to sleeping most of the day.  He's trying his darndest to walk and you can't leave him on the bed unattended - he crawls pretty darn fast and rolls!   He seems like a happy little fellow purring (more like a clicking sound) all the time.  He's two weeks old and I do believe he will make it!  And the best part is that he sleeps thru the night - I always have to wake him for him to eat!   3:30 this morning he didn't seem to happy being awakened!  Oh and his ears are starting to open and stand up - they look like they may be "big ears!"

Anyway - Riley is still not happy with him - he totally avoided the 3rd floor (where the bedrooms are and where Quentin sleeps in the carrier) for a few days.  Now he's venturing upstairs but avoiding him.  He also has been hissing and avoiding me pretty much but last night I guess his "cold paws" thawed a bit - i went to bed and Riley curled up on my pillow with my arms around him and he purred and purred - He's my man!  Woke up with him close too!   Jonesy is really laid back and he's okay with him - but will do a little hiss now and then - Maybe when he's walking around they will be fascinated and realize he's a new buddy - hope so - just figure they don't know what to make of this little squirmy, loud, mouse colored "thing"!

So here's some random pics - he's hard to get a good pic of - he's always on the move!

Trying to walk yesterday...

Yelling at me about something...

Sunday night after his bottle - check out that fat tummy...

Feel asleep trying to walk...

This afternoon - again trying to walk...

Oh well, maybe later...

Had my follow-up eye appointment yesterday.   Things aren't looking so good - got another two prescriptions - drops and a gel to use at bedtime (let me tell you that feels weird!  And by the price of them they should be drops and gel of gold!) and if things don't improve by the next appointment will be referred to a cornea specialist.  And here I thought it was improving just a bit!

My car is also in the shop and the bill will be close to four digits if not over!  I guess it's payback for going thru the first 6 inspections not needing a thing!

Anyway - it's always something - guess it's just called life!  Have to  stay on the bright side and keep looking for that pot of gold!

Also still reading blogs and some I can't comment on - mainly Sharon's, Cathy G.'s and Pat W's!  Don't know why - some others don't work the first time and then the second and others go right thru!

Have a wonderful day!

Kathy's Song

Well if there is anyone out there that hasn't heard - Kathy Harris turned 50 yesterday!  And she's celebrating all month long!

I was lucky enough to be able to go to Grant Street this week (between car problems and what not you never know).  I arrived on Wednesday at Linda's (Grant Street Woolworks) and then Kathy, Linda and I went out for a night of bingo!  Had a great time - Kathy was the winner of the evening!

Thursday was the hook-in and the big 5-0 party!  Lots of fun, lots of people and lots of people hooking and me - didn't get a pic of hardly any of the rugs!  So here are some random shots of the day/evening.

The Birthday Queen (Queen Kathleen) arrives...

She even made her own cake (From scratch even!)... (It was yummy - chocolate bliss!)

Brenda's rug - she's waiting for the baby to be born to put in the date...

Someone gave Kathy 50 gifts to open and numbered them 1 to 50 and made her open them in order (Now who would do that?)...I can well image her wondering what the HECK to do with all...

She finally found #1...

tap tap tap... still unwrapping...

And No. 50 - now is that face cause there wasn't enough neutrals in the quilt???  And can you believe she doesn't believe I made it (I mean me and my sewing machine a.k.a. The Beast..get along so great! LOL)

I brought the kitty carrier because Jill was bringing me the baby kitten she rescued at a day or two old to foster for her (Yea who am I kidding - he's mine more than likely unless someone really really wants him when he gets a bit older).   He needs lots of care and loving since he's only 2 weeks old and still itty bitty.  So i had the carrier on the floor and Beau just wouldn't leave it alone - it does have a flannel sheet in that Jonesy was on  when he went to the vet - guess that's what he smelled - I finally opened the door so he could check it out - well of course he's bigger than that carrier!  he's too cute...

Margo checking out her rug...it's always good to "step away from the rug" if you aren't sure you like something or to get a better view.  Sometimes while hooking and right on top of it - it looks crappy - but if you step away it gives you a new perspective...

Even the birthday girl got some hooking done...some

Blowing out her candles - Her husband gave her candles that spelled out "Oh No The Big 5-0!  Hey even at her age she was able to blow them all out without getting winded!

Genny's rug - still a few more states to go...

Kathy and Linda - I don't even remember what was going on here...

Tanya brought some roving and soap and some of the girls got their hands wet and were making felted soap - Bet their hands are all soft today!

Sherri came letter and she's making these felted sheep - they are so cool - She needs to hold a class on making them! I would sign up!

Even thought it was all about Kathy yesterday - my secret pal left me a package!  Hey Secret Pal - knock it off - you've been way too generous too me - but thank you and my kitties thank you (even though they aren't speaking to me right now)

Oh my - what a haul I made - candy, treats for the boys, an old wooden handled strainer, a gorgeous piece of wool, some stacking boxes (love the bottom one with the row of pumpkins), a tin cake pan with candles, a kitty cake note pad, and probably more - I'm just being too lazy to go get it to check (I've not unpacked yet!)

There was also a "give-a-way" to sign up for - Kathy hand dyed some wool and was giving it away with candy.  Well my number was pulled - woohoo - more beautiful wool - Thank you for picking my number!  (Oh and even the kitty signed up!)

Sherri is the cat whisperer.  I decided to go home last night rather than staying and leaving in the morning since I had to be at work at 1 - so the "baby" kitten needed a last feeding - Sherri did it so easily - thanks for the tips Sherri!

Isn't he adorable - being he's only 2 weeks old now he sleeps and eats and that's about it - when you hold him he keeps rolling around and loves to be held but he gets cold so fast so you have to keep him real close!

I brought him last night and immediately Riley got extremely upset and wouldn't come near me - Jonesy started making weird noises but kept trying to check him out (he was in the carrier and will stay in there for now with the heating pad on) but would hiss at him too! Oh I hate this part - As of tonite - it's still not "cool" with the boys but I'm hoping they relax soon.

Riley did a weird thing last night too - I went to bed around 2:15 or so (hey i had a 2 1/2 hour drive home and then had to get the kitty settled!) and Riley normally sleeps between my legs as I sleep on my stomach - well i was just about asleep and felt him jump on the bed - he walks up to my pillow and right in my face almost nose to nose he hisses at me - not once but twice - and then jumped down and I didn't see him until the morning!  I've been a bit upset about this because I had the kitten in another room so I can't understand why I'm getting the cold paw like this!  Oh like I said - i hope he starts relaxing - he's not happy and not eating right now (Riley not the kitten!)

So the kitten is being fed, held, kept warmed, and loved!   Just showed my husband all the steps to do since he will be taking care of him tomorrow as I work all day at the co-op.  We been trying to think of names for him - I've been calling him TK for "Tiny Kitten" but that was only until a name is picked.  Everything I like my husband doesn't and vice versa.

He had mentioned he looks like "wolfman" so I came up with Edward or Eddie (for Eddie Munster!) - not quite sure he looks like an Eddie - Then tonite Phil said let's call him "Quentin" (From Dark Shadows - Quentin used to turn into  a werewolf) and you know it kinda fits - its a big strong name for a little fighter - unusual yes but we started calling him that and he started purring! LOL So not sure if that's what it will be - but heck Jonesy is named after the kitty in the Alien movie - so why not!

So here are some pics from about 1/2 hour ago when we were feeding him... what a goober... There is a pic on Kathy's blog of him where he looks like a grumpy old man!

Well Kathy - I'm so happy to be your friend and glad to be a part of your 50th birthday - Now whens the next party?

Have a great weekend!
