Bad Luck

Well I'm sitting here and I can't wait for September to be over.  Normally I love the month of September but mine started out bad with the accident, the dryer, the computer crash and so on.  I wish I could stay in bed until Saturday because it seems everyday something else happens!  Oh well! Only another two days!

I won't be updating my blog with fun antics and wonderful rug pictures from Grant Street this week because I was unable to go!  I was having issues with my car this week and can't get it in the shop until Monday!  It seems I'm having so many car problems lately but I have to say - it never really needed anything until the past year or two and at 142,000 plus miles I can't complain (even though I feel like it!)!

My plans were to go out this week like I said but didn't want to chance it with the car and since no one has ever offered me a ride out there nor has Kathy ever decided to swing by and pick me up on her way there (hahaha just kidding - can you image - it would be 2 1/2 hours out of her way just to get here!) I was stuck at home.  I did get a call to fill in at the co-op for 3 hours today so I did that instead.

Another reason was I'm having issues with my eyes too.

Wish this was the problem

But it's not.  I went to the eye doc since the past two weeks my vision has been getting worse and worse in my left eye.   The problems are a whole combination of things but I'm being treated and hoping for the best.  May have permanent blurred vision in my left eye but the problem didn't get as severe in the right eye so that's a blessing.  Another long road to getting back on track but it could be worse!

One nice thing was I got home last night and there on the counter in the kitchen was a fall bouquet of flowers with a note that had "paw prints" and said "To Mom, We love You, The Boys" (and it also said that Dad had nothing to do with getting the flowers!) LOL  So i put them in one of my milk cans...

Okay they are prettier in person - I'm not good at arranging!

Tomorrow its back to the co-op and on Saturday it's demonstrating rug hooking - they are calling for cooler weather and rain - so I'm hoping the rain holds off since its an outdoor event!

Hope everyone has a great end of September this week!

Cats In The Cradle

Well this weekend was all about the animals!

First I like to thank everyone on your comments for Jonesy - Actually - there is nothing different about him than before the Vet visit except now we know he has a heart murmur.  I will call the vet sometime this week and ask some questions I didn't think of earlier and ones that Pat (hook, hand and heart) asked me if I knew.  Guess I was kinda stunned and just didn't think to ask anything.  It's almost so easy to come home and "look it up" but really you need to use info on the web as background info as it's so conflicting - same with doctor info for ourselves!

I was invited to Joan's hook-in out near the Gettysburg area.   She has a big hook-in ever fall and one thing you must do to attend is to help her "fill her truck" with supplies for the Adams County SPCA.  What a great cause!  And I do believe her truck was looking pretty full.

I stayed at Linda's and she drove us over in the morning.  It was great seeing some old friends and I did manage to pull maybe 20 loops - maybe!  Just was more of mood to sit back and enjoy the day.  Kathy had to leave almost as soon as she got there but I do believe she had her camera going so hopefully she will have better pics!

It was a fun day and thank you Joan for inviting me.  Joan goes over and above and I can well image all the work to prepare - she also has games and rafffles lined up (all to benefit the animals) and everyone goes home with a prize! I was the lucky recipient of some pretty blue wool and a book.  I didn't really take any pictures of the day except of some of the rugs in the "rug show" in the back room.

I won't even attempt to name who's is who and even sure if i got all a pic of all the rugs....

This is one of the views from the porch of the house - nice and quiet and relaxing...

Now more animals - Jill brought a little kitty her and her husband rescued - they found two in her barn - ice cold - she immediately put them on a heating pad and started feeding them - One didn't make it - but this little guy (Maybe gal?) was a fighter - He is no bigger than my hand and Jill thinks he's only a few days old if that - Of couse many of us spent the day checking on him and feeding him and I'm even thinking of adopting him from Jill -  big maybe Jill (I don't mean to be wishywashy about it!)  Linda named him "Cassius" for the fighter - since he really is - I really hope he makes it!

Well I'm thinking I may be heading right back out that way again on Wednesday for the Thursday hook-in- Jill was campaigning to get everyone to come to Grant Street since she has the day off and Beth will be coming!  Always fun when they show up and always fun to have a crowd - big or small!

Today our anniversary - we got married in 1994 in a log cabin wedding chapel in the Smokey Mountains in Gatlinburg Tennessee (Didn't tell anyone - just went on vacation!)  Hard to believe it's 17 years - was teasing my husband that it was 17 lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng years plus the seven we lived together before that plus the few years I knew him even before that - LOL!    So will be meeting him for dinner tonite - he's actually going "out" other than work and not staying home in his "bunker!" Image that!

Been spending the day doing wash, changing sheets, cleaning toilets, getting out some of my fall/winter clothes (even though it's hot and muggy today!).  Tomorrow is an eye doctor appointment smack in the middle of the day and who knows what else the day will bring.

Oh and I'm still having problems leaving comments - been trying different things and i think i may have gotten one or two to go thru and then i try it again and nada!  So I am keeping up on reading the blogs - just can't comment - but will keep trying!

Have a great day!

Every Beat of My Heart

Wow another week has passed. Now it is officially Fall! Hard to believe it’s nearing the end of the September – I really have to wrap my head around that fact. All through the hot days of summer everyone was wishing for Fall and now it’s here and now the talk is turning towards Christmas! Oh my! I’m staying in this season as long as I can (and even wearing my flip-flops as long as I can!)

Monday I got my car back and I do have to say that dealing with the insurance, auto body, car rental, etc. has certainly been an unexpected pleasure. I haven’t had an accident for a long long time and never remember anything running so smooth. Everyone was helpful and pleasant and everything went as planned. My car looked great – besides the new bumper system and back door getting fixed, it was detailed – All nice and spanking clean! (Okay Okay I’ve had it a week now so…..)

Tuesday I finally got out the fall decorations and put away the spring/summer. Did some cleaning too (image that!) Anyone sick of the same things you put out year to year? Well I am so I did a purge of things sitting on shelves and sitting around and then a purge of some of my Halloween/fall decorations and got three huge bags which I am giving to my niece who recently moved into her first home - I told her to keep what she wants and donate or trash the rest!

Wednesday was a rainy day so I decided to bake – Made some Apple Dapple cakes – made the house smell really good!

On Thursday I had to take the boys in for their “yearly” inspections. Oh what a time – I always dread it but stay calm – but let me just say I have many battle scars from trying to get Riley into the carrier. I nearly had to cancel the appointment.. Jonesy wasn’t much better – he actually hissed and growled at me (something I have never heard from him). Once they were both in their individual carriers – and me a hot, set, sweaty and panting, I got them loaded in the car and off we went. They “sang” to me the ENTIRE way there (about 7 miles – 7 lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng miles) and I stayed strong and tried not to drive off the road. We get there and Riley becomes Mr. Wonderful – examining everything in the room and playing in the sink, and giving me kisses. Hard to believe 15 minutes prior he was channeling Regan (from the exerocist when her head was spinning around) and Jonesy – poor Jonesy – he just shut down – he was terrified and completely unresponsive to me.

Anyway Riley went first and got a clean bill of health. Jonesy was next. No so good news. Dr. W. said he had a heart murmur and went on to give me not so happy information. What concerned me the most is normally Dr. W. is very positive about things – just didn’t get that feeling this time. So I don’t know how serious it is – We take him back in 3 months and then will be making decisions on whether to take him to a cat cardiologist and/or the University to get him an ultrasound to find out just what is up.

Of course I came home very uspet and did look up information and most sites did say you wait the 3 months and then do what Dr. W. suggested so that made me feel better and I have heard from some of my other cat loving friends how sometimes it’s not as serious. I just feel so bad – Jonesy has been a very unique kitty from day 1 – very very special – so unlike any of other cats we have had – so hard to explain but this boy has our hearts so we will do what we will have to for him.

Oh and did I mention they “sang” to me on the way home too – and the minute I opened the carrier they were like two shots out of each carrier – did make me giggle then!

Today I ‘worked’ at the antique co-op and boy was it a miserable day – rain rain rain and dreary – but people ventured in and shopped so that helped pass the time.

Supposed to rain most of the weekend – hope not – there are so many events in the area planned for tomorrow that it will be sad to see them canceled!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Oh and on another note - I cannot seem to comment on blogs - it's not the "check" and "uncheck" thing this time.   Don't know what's up - but I'm been typing otu comments and then they do not go anywhere.  I think one out of every 20 get thru!  Still trying things to get it to work!

Queen of the Highway

Do your kitties make better doors than windows?

Did you Mother ever tell you not to sit so close to the TV?

Hey Mom - we DO make better doors than windows, right!

Lalalalalalalallalallalaaaa  I got a skeeter on my ......lalalalalalallalalalala...

Hey Jonesy - Mom doesn't look so amused anymore...

I'm the good one in the family....I listen when you say get down - now where's my treat?

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroorrrr....just cause he's the baby he thinks he's special....

Well when the boys weren't trying to "amuse" me with their antics this week, I actually got things done - I went grocery shopping, thrifting, got my hair cut, banking, post officing, visiting the parents - all on Monday and Tuesday!

Wednesday I headed on out to "vacation" in beautiful "Chambersburg" - You know the place- the Home of Grant Street Woolworks -the place where the fun never ends!

My first stop was Shippensburg where I stop in UNANNOUNCED at Kathy's!  What a good friend I am to do that huh!

Then it was off to Grant Street!  Met up with Linda there and we went over to her house (where I was staying) and she made dinner then we went off and met up with Kathy and played bingo!  Linda was our big winner of the night! Way to go Linda!  Kathy was "set" for the $700 jackpot - darn it, someone else won!

We came back and hug out in Linda's kitchen.  Poor Linda got out some ice cream and she ended up HAVING to give most of it to Beau and Louie - they aren't spoiled are they!

The next day was the all day hook-in.
I have to admit i was slow to pull out my piece of linen and worms and get started hooking - I should have had way more done than I did - I would pull a few loops and sit back - this went on all day - Just couldn't decide on what I wanted to hook - just hooked a hit and miss - stole the idea from Kathy!  Thanks for letting me steal your idea!

Once again, I didn't get a pic of everyone that was there.

Barb was there early and had to leave early but she had a "Secret Pal" gift - and boy was her smile from ear to ear - she LOVES bright colors and her pal gave her some BRIGHT FABRIC!  She just loved it!

Kathy was a busy one - She actually was hooking away - she was filling an order...

And got them almost done (she has to label them yet!) Aren't they great!

Linda needed a better view of Nancee's rug.... dance on the tables for dollars

Nancee's rug - it's better in person - just beautiful - she has all the background to finish - it's a large rug!

Genny was there with her sister Kathy and Betty - Genny was making a rug of the map of the US for her husband - every state will be a different color and i believe the border will be a pale blue (for the ocean)...  She finished North Dakota and South Dakota while she was there!

Sherri came was was still whipping her kitty rug - we told her we weren't leaving until she was done...

Well she finished!

Joan was there also but didn't get a pic of what she was working on - actually if i remember it correctly she was as bad as me at working!  Margo was there working on a snowman rug and forgot to get a pic of that and Linda was working too all day (except when she was looking (dancing on the table) at Nancee's rug.  Betsy was painting, and I can't remember who else may have come and gone!

Well I had to get up early this morning and leave Linda's and come home (2 1/2 hour drive) because I had to be at work at the co-op at 1:30 - My car has been in the auto body shop all week and I've been driving a rental and the car was supposed to done today so I had to be home in time to pick that up too! Well a part wasn't in yet - they were waiting for delivery - so now my car won't be ready until Monday!

The customers were sporadic at the co-op today and since I'm not a "dealer" there I do not have an area to attend to - so I just wandered around and looked at things...

this is an item i want - the pic doesnt' do it justice - but I WANT this desk - I have the  perfect place for it and love the old wood on it - it's unusual but love the L' shaped back and the one post and the stair type bottom - again - not a great pic especially with all the "stuff" on top but maybe some day if i get a real job...

Oh look - i found 2 rug hooking books - i have both of these already....

And shame this little guy is concrete - I could have clipped him and made my own wool!

This stool is screaming for a hooked top...

Hey Sharon - I found 2 radio's ... (I had to check the ticket - they are NOT BB's stuff! LOL)

Oh and you too can own these lamps - the one on the left is only a mere $1,150.00 and the one on the right is $795!  Eek - I hope for the dealers sake someone comes in and has to have them!

During my thrifting on Monday I found this great piece of wool I can use to hook thru - it's more of a green than the pic with a subtle red thru it - It will be absolutely perfect to make some Holiday pillows!  It was 3 1/2 yards - new wool - for $12.  I was hemming and hawing about paying that much (new wool is much more but heck this was a thrift store) but decided to - and when i got to the counter it was half price! Woohoo - even better!

So now it's the weekend! Hope everyone has a good one whatever your plans!

I Wish I Could Back-Up

Well first I like to say how wonderful it is to have soft towels to dry off with and soft undies to wear!

Yep - the dryer is fixed - WHOO HOOOO!  That baby heats up now and did 5 loads yesterday!

My husband just handed me a flash drive/memory stick (whatever you want to call it) and told me I best back-up the computer from now on (he's really pissed that I lost everything on my computer and I wasn't backing up - mostly he's mad about losing Jonesy's "baby" pictures)  I will be right clicking and saving them from the blog one of these days and putting them on a disk.

Okay Mom - you better listen to Dad - we especially need to save pics of ME !

I'll read the instructions and let you know how to use it...

Things are looking up I suppose - the car goes in for repair Monday, the dryer is fixed, and slowly getting things re-loaded on the computer!

The weather however is crazy anymore - so much flooding going one - Philly area got hit pretty hard today - however even though we are surrounded by creeks, we've been lucky but so many people in the area haven't.

Spent the afternoon and evening at the Cinnamon Stick's Fall Open House .  If you are in the area and get a chance - stop in - the store is packed full of fall and Halloween treasures.  I was supposed to be working but I spent a good deal of time walking around and walking around again seeing things I missed the first 5 times!  So many fun ideas - and around ever corner there is surprises and snacks!  Oh and the store smells ooooh sooo good!

Tomorrow it's back to the antique co-op to work for the afternoon so I get to play checking out more nooks and crannies and old things!

Stay safe out there and have a great day!

It's So Easy

lalalalalala..... It seems so easy.
(Seems so easy, seems so easy.)
Oh-oh-oh, so doggone easy.
(Doggone easy, doggone easy.)
Mmm-mmm-hmm, it seems so easy.
(Seems so easy, seems so easy, seems so easy.) .....lalalalala

Well I have to say first that I do not want to "jinx" anything, but dealing with this car accident is going way to easy.  I've been dealing with extremely pleasant and helpful people and have hit no snags.  I haven't had an accident in a lot of years and the last time I was hit I do not remember it being this "easy" - I remember having so many problems I even called a lawyer for advice!

I called his insurance company to file a claim - they couldn't have been nicer.
Someone called me back immediately with information.  Then the appraiser called and told me I could go directly to the auto body or he would come out - Since the auto body is 1 mile away i thought I would just take the car.  I called this morning  to set up an appointment to get it looked at - they said come in anytime.
So I went this afternoon.  They already had all the paperwork from the insurance company so I didn't have to give them any information - Wow
He does the estimate - sets up the appointment and tells me I'm entitled to a rental car (when does anyone offer information anymore?)

Anyway - Monday my car goes in for repair.  I will hand them my keys and they will hand me the keys to the rental car! I don't even have to get a ride to pick it up!

Like I said - things are easy!

Knock on wood things stay "easy".  It really makes me feel good that things do not always have to be a problem!

So the last few days have been rainy and grey and dreary.

My boys have been doing this...

Me, haven't been doing much of anything constructive.  I really wanted to dye some wool but I like to put it in the dryer and my dryer is still busted.  My husband just got back with some new parts and hopefully he will have that fixed soon - my laundry basket is overflowing too!

Shhh, don't tell Riley I'm telling you this - but last night I was sitting there watching TV and next to me was an empty tissue box that I hadn't tossed yet.  Riley jumped up and put his head in it and got it stuck on his head - I was laughing while fumbling for the camera - Darn it - he had it off his head before I could snap a picture!

He just looked so silly with a tissue box head!  I don't think he was amused because he knocked it on the floor then!  Silly boy!

Keeping my toes crossed the dryer gets fixed today so I can do laundry and dye wool.  Also have been slowly loading different things back on my computer - so it's getting there!

Wishing everyone a great week!
